The coast is an area of ‘Outstanding Natural Beauty' and is only 20 minutes drive with golden beaches, on the way you will pass castles and stately homes. Also worth a visit is Hadrian's Wall, the Scottish Borders and the Cheviots, all easily accessible.
New Moor House is a 200 year old former Georgian coaching inn nestling in the midst of spectacular countryside and the 3 stone built cottages are converted from the former barns in a courtyard setting. Recently refurbished the cottages have their own ‘spring water' supply, log burning stoves and two have romantic four poster beds. With historical sites, golden sandy beaches and the market towns of Alnwick and Rothbury close by for shops, bars and restaurants, they are sure to appeal to guests looking for a relaxing retreat at any time of year.
The cottage has been converted from the barns overlooking the old courtyard, it has an interconnecting door allowing the cottage to be rented alongside Briar Cottage for a party of 4 but retaining their own privacy, is centrally heated and comprise:

Similar to sleeping in a motorway service station, the cottage is positioned within 5m of a busy and fast main road. Apart from the continual traffic noise, the cottage is so close to the road you are awoken by lorry headlights beaming through the bedroom and living room windows.
On arrival cottage also smelt like mix between dog and nicotine

Very hard to fault the accommodation; only main drawback with it is its roadside location and it's a fairly busy road; having said that it is fitted with secondary glazing and the traffic noise is moderate and did not affect our sleep. Only other minor gripe is it is a little short on storage space in the kitchen.
On the plus side it was immaculately clean in all respects, everything you would expect and more: the complimentary milk and wine was a lovely surprise, as was the free supply of logs for the fire. If you're on a tight budget and want to explore Northumberland then this is definitely for you!

We thoroughtly enjoyed our stay at Rose Cottage. The cottage was very comfortable with all mod cons.Thankyou for the milk and the bottle of wine in the fridge. Very acceptable!
We will definitely consider coming back as the cottage was ideally situated for sightseeing. We love Northumberland and look forward to seeing it in the spring. We had a problem with the TV - could only get BBC but the problem was sorted by the owner. She tuned in the other channels for us. No problem.

Lovely cottage, perfect size for two people. We also had our baby daughter & dog with us, & there was still plenty of space. Washer & dryer great for baby too.
Only downside was cottage right on the main road. The noise wasn't too bad but was noticeable.
Also, logs & coal provided for log burner but no kindling making lighting it tricky.
Minimum stay and check-in day vary by time of the year.
All prices include all taxes, gas, electric and bed linen. Please check property description to see if towels, logs, coal and cots are included free of charge or at a supplement. If a pet friendly property, the charge is £20 per pet per week/part week. Please telephone or email us for short break availability and prices.
