We are set on the hillside above the tiny pueblo of El Chorro, famous for the green Iron railway bridge featured in the old ´Von Ryans Express´ movie, for the Camino Del Rey Via Ferrata across the El Chorro Gorge and some of the best Sports climbing in the world!
Please Note: Our room rate is per Double room for 2 people per night / per week, not for the whole house.

Additional Location Information
The Olive Branch Guesthouse is set on the hillside above the small pueblo of El Chorro, surrounded by the mountains of the Andalucia Natural Parkland.
Approximately 10-15 minutes walk from our house, the village of El Chorro is a small, tranquil place but is famous for its Via Ferrata walkway 'The Camino Del Rey' around the El Chorro Gorge, by far the most stunning experience to do here. El Chorro is also famous for the very Old Iron Green Bridge that featured in the 1951 Film 'The Dam Busters'!
The village itself has a handful of bars/restaurants to offer and has a very friendly local Spanish and foreign community. The Train Station bar offers snacks and drinks and a small shop. The Refugio Bar offers lively music and home-made stone-baked pizza. The Alberque Camping ground Restaurant offers local food as does the Garganta Hotel Restaurant. There is a local grocery store and we also have a grocery and tabacco shop at The Olive Branch.
Across the other side of the Dam, the pretty little restaurant El Pilar also offers local cuisine and vegetarian food. The stunning Lakes of Ardarles are a must-see and there are more restaurants on offer there within a 15 minute drive.
El Chorro is a great base for activity seekers, climbers, hikers and mountain bikers. We offer local guides who are experienced, qualified and have had fantastic reviews from past guests. The closest climbing crag is just opposite The Olive Branch! and the others are anything from a 20 minute to 2 hour walk. There are some of the most exciting Mountain biking trails here and the most stunning views for hiking.
For other activities there are plenty more on offer. We can arrange Para-gliding, Quad-biking, Horse riding and kayaking/canoeing at Ardarles Lakes. It can truly be a holiday to remember!
We are also a great base for a sight-seeing/relaxing holiday. With the towns of Ronda, Antequera and Ardarles within an hours drive, and Granada, Cordoba and Sevilla within a 2 hour drive, its easy to plans some fantastic day trips out and then come back to the tranquil surroundings of El Chorro to completely relax on your rest days. We even have the services of a local Masseuse and Reflexology that we can arrange if you really want to spoil yourself.
But, by far, the most thrilling thing to do is El Chorro is The Camino Del Rey Via Ferrata around the El Chorro Gorge. If you have a special Birthday or Occasion to celebrate then make it a once-in-a-lifetime experience by walking the Camino Del Rey. We can arrange an experienced, qualified guide with all the via ferrata kit required, to take you across the walkway. With a thrill of a little danger, the stunning Gorge and tranquil valley inside this really is an experience you will never forget.
And to celebrate the achievement and your special occasion we offer to host your Dinner Party at The Olive Branch in the evening. We can provide full catering in beautiful surroundings and have held many successful parties here with some great reviews as references if required.
At Ardarles Lakes is the 'Indian Sport' watersports center. They offer Kayaks and canoes to rent and you can join a group for some instruction to learn the basics. Or you can just swim, sunbathe and pedalo in your own time at the swimming lake which is beautiful and only 15 minutes drive from our house.
We have on-site parking at the Olive Branch and a parking area for campervans too. We have instructions on our website to help you find us and our small wooden signposts in the village and along the main road to point you in the right direction.
We offer our pick-up service and the train service from Malaga to Alora and El Chorro is very reliable and regular. You can go to the train timetable via our website and book your tickets online on the Renfe website. If we pick you up we will even take you to the supermarket on the way back!

As a group of 6 adults and 3 teenage boys we visited The Olive Branch in Jan 2013. The location is perfect, the views are awesome from pretty much everywhere you turn. The stars at night are a added bonus(very little light pollution). The location is far enough away from it all to feel relaxed but close enough to bars and restaurants not to feel isolated. Most of our party where a little culture shocked at first as this is not Benidorm. After 4 days at The Olive Branch everyone agreed it was one of the best holiday's they had been on!
I liked it so much I returned again 2 weeks later!
Mel & Gary are down-to-earth and a pleasure as is at the OB. During the climbing season there are plenty of people who stay for weeks or even months at a time. We made quite a few new friends while we were there.
I must stress you do not have to be a climber to enjoy the OB! It's a pleasure for anyone looking to get away from it all and enjoy the real Spain.

We went as a family in august and had a wonderful week with Gary and Mel and their lovely family.
The accommodation is fantastic with its rustic charm and we had such a warm welcome. We self catered but were offered B&B; but as we have young children it was easier with timings to do it ourselves.
I would definitely recommend the Olive Branch. We have already booked to go back in august :)
“Lovely, helpful hosts and a great community feel.”

I stayed during peak season in December through to January. Difficult to describe as just a place to stay! The owners are very friendly and there are the facilities and community that make any stay ranging from a few days to a couple of months a really enjoyable. If you're going for climbing (as most people are) you'll never be short of a partner or somewhere to go. It's embarrassingly easy to get to from Malaga airport (1 train change 10Euros) but the owners are happy to collect you from alora (nearest major town) for a small fee, check with the owners about when the trains are running before you go! Alora's also the best place to go shopping, the shops in the village are very overpriced, lifts to alora or asking people to pick stuff up for you works quite well. Any q's email the owners and they'll get right back to you!
