The River House is a charming, hundred-year-old cabin nestled on the banks of Angels Creek. It has been lovingly renovated and tastefully decorated. With two bedrooms and a bathroom, it's the perfect getaway for a couple or a small family. The cabin can handle two couples, but it starts to get a bit tight with only one bathroom.
The River House is located in the quaint, historic town of Angels Camp in the heart of California's Gold Country. Yosemite, San Francisco, Tahoe, and the Bear Valley Ski Resort are an easy, scenic drive away (1-2.5 hours). Our guests appreciate being able to explore Northern California's big ticket attractions and then returning 'home' to the quiet and tranquility of The River House.
The River House has two bedrooms, a bathroom, a living room, kitchen, & dining area. Each bedroom has a queen-size bed with cozy bedding and plush pillows. Both bedrooms have tranquil river views. The newly renovated bathroom has a shower and a separate 'soaking' room with a claw foot tub overlooking the river. The updated kitchen is fully equipped including a full-size fridge, coffee maker, microwave, & blender. The charming living room has comfortable furniture and a propane stove for cozy winter evenings. There is an air conditioning unit for the warmer summer months. The multi-tiered back deck, overlooking the river, has a 5 person jacuzzi hot tub, comfortable patio furniture, and a propane BBQ. There is also a hammock strung up in the shade of the oaks and pines, perfect for whiling away the afternoon and enjoying the restful sounds of Angels Creek.
After relaxing and unwinding at the River House, we certainly hope that you'll venture out to enjoy some of the year-round activities and adventures that Calaveras County has to offer. In the summer, don't miss hiking or biking amongst the Giant Sequoias at the Calaveras Big Trees State Park. How about tubing and wake boarding on New Melones Lake? Or catching a summer concert while sipping local wines at the Ironstone Vineyard in nearby Murphys? In the winter, be sure to head up the hill to do some skiing or snowboarding at Bear Valley Mountain. And if you visit us in the spring you must plan to partake in the festivities of the world famous Jumping Frog Jubilee right in downtown Angels Camp.
*There is no cable or internet unless you use the cellular signal.
*There is no smoking allowed inside the cabin.
*There is Poison Oak and thorny blackberry bushes in this area. All guests are asked to be diligent on this matter. The easiest solution is to not rub against any bushes when out walking.
*The hot tub: Such things can be tempermental, or can have mechanical issues. IF the hot-tub ever fails a guest, then there is a preset discount of $10 per day that I will return to you to offset this problem.
*In June of 2013, there was a report of a rattlesnake near the back deck. This old cabin is more in the wild than other stuff you will find online (even though you are so close to Angels Camp). If you want to rent in a subdivision or a hotel, where there is no chance of rattlesnakes or adventure, then this is not for you.
*If you or your kids collect the crawdads (which is kind of fun to do), then please return them safely to the river after playing with them.
*I will occasionally accept a one night stay if I can arrange the cleaning, and if the stay shoulders up against another guest, or if it is a last minute reservation and the cabin is open.
*I will occasionally require longer stays on Prime months, as a 2 night stay will block up the unit and possibly make it to where a longer term guest can then not rent from me.
Whenever you visit, you will enjoy the charming, no fuss hospitality of Angels Camp and The River House. We love the place and think you will also if relaxation and romance is on the list.

Historic Angels Camp Cabin On River With Jacuzzi Angels Camp, California
Additional Location Information
Even though the cabin is located on property that feels private and secluded, The River House is just one mile from historic downtown Angels Camp. It is a seven-minute drive to the quaint historic town of Murphys. Both towns have exceptional dining, wine tasting, and boutique shopping. Sonora, in neighboring Tuolumne County, is a 30-minute drive. This is the Gold Country, and you will find many historic sights to see and towns to explore, our area has fun lakes, trails, caves, and even spelunking. Calaveras Big Trees and the Giant Sequoias are worth the short drive. You're also not far from Bear Valley. Lake Tahoe and Yosemite Valley are each about two hours away in opposite directions. But you may just find that relaxing on the deck and enjoying the slow pace is the way to go :)
