Westbourne Cottage is a beautifully refurbished wing of Westbourne House in the pretty East Neuk village of Kilrenny. We are graded 4* "Excellent" by the Scottish Tourist Board. The cottage has its own entrance and use of Westbourne House's landscaped garden. High-quality furnishings give the cottage an old-world charm, while the wood-burning stove in the sitting area is perfect to come back to after long walks along Fife's famous coastal path.

Kilrenny is a charming little conservation village, perfect for a relaxing, peaceful and quiet short break or longer holiday. Nearby, the town of Anstruther has a variety of small independent shops, a small supermarket and a choice of pubs and restaurants. The historic and internationally renowned university and golfing town of St Andrews is 15 minutes drive away.
With the fabulous sandy beaches of Elie, the working fishing harbour and arts town at Pittenweem, and the picture postcard harbour at Crail, you can spend hours exploring the East Neuk just wandering through the narrow cobbled streets, admiring wonderful sea views, sampling the local food or chatting with the locals.
Things to do
•Fife's coastal walks run close to the cottage. Take a wander through the beautiful fishing towns and villages of the East Neuk. Closest to Kilrenny is the largest town, Anstruther, which you can walk or cycle to in a few minutes. Here you'll find the famous Scottish Fisheries Museum and one of the best (officially) fish and chip restaurants in the United Kingdom, the Anstruther Fish Bar.
•The area is famous for its lush golf courses, with a wide choice in the immediate locality and within 30 minutes' drive.

Kilrenny is a charming little conservation village - perfect for a relaxing, peaceful and quiet short break or longer holiday; and as a base for exploring the local area or further afield.
There are a number of attractive country and coastal walks which you can access directly from our house. In the immediate locality are the beautiful fishing towns and villages of the East Neuk of Fife each with their own charm and character. Closest to Kilrenny is the largest town – Anstruther – which you can walk or cycle to in a few minutes. It is home to the famous Scottish Fisheries Museum – a wonderful testament to Scotland’s rich and fascinating fishing industry. You will also be able to sample one of the best (officially) fish and chip restaurants in the United Kingdom in Anstruther ! The town has a variety of small independent shops, a small supermarket and a choice of pubs and restaurants, including the award winning Cellar Restaurant . From the fabulous sandy beaches of Elie, the working fishing harbour and Arts Town at Pittenweem, or the picture postcard harbour at Crail, you can spend hours exploring the East Neuk just wandering through the narrow cobbled streets, admiring the wonderful sea views, sampling the local food or chatting with the locals. Also close by are: Kellie Castle and Gardens – a beautiful 14th Century Castle and Arts and Crafts Garden; Secret Bunker – a former Cold War military installation; and Hill of Tarvit, near Cupar – a magnificent Edwardian Mansion House and Gardens.
Although our area is best known for its beautiful coastal scenery and peace and quiet, there are numerous activities and interests available. Most famous is golf with a wide choice of courses in the immediate locality and within 30 minutes drive. Other activities include: cycling ; fishing ; bird watching ; walking the Coastal Path ; visiting the Isle of May National Nature Reserve ; and visiting Tentsmuir Forest and Beach. For the more energetic, there is a choice of water sports at nearby Elie ; or walking in the Lomond Hills Regional Park – approximately 45 minutes drive from Kilrenny. . Cultural interests include a variety of art galleries, many in Pittenweem which has its own acclaimed Arts Festival in August ; and the famous Byre Theatre in St Andrews.
About 15 minutes drive away is the charming university, historical and golfing town of St Andrews with a wide range of places to visit, things to do and places to eat and drink. Further afield Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth, Aberdeen and Royal Deeside are all within an easy 1-2 hour drive. You could even take a longer day trip to Inverness and parts of the Highlands (allow 10-12 hours including stops).
