Additional Location Information

This vacation home is located in a rural, retirement community, with unpaved roads and desert wildlife and foliage everywhere. Plenty of uncovered parking available on nearby unpaved roads for autos and RVs. The San Bernardino forest is famous for its desert weather and terrain. Joshua trees, a nationally protected tree can be seen all throughout the area, as well as acacia trees and other desert indigenous foliage. Lizards, rattlesnakes, rabbits, squirrels, coyotes and other animals call this desert home.

The summer months (May-September) boasts the hottest temperatures (averaging 100 degrees), yet brings beautiful summer skies
and sunsets. Neighbors testify that relief from the heat occurs at around 5:00PM, when a gentle breeze settles in from the West. This is the
time to sit on the porch with a glass of ice tea and a deck of cards to enjoy the breeze, while watching rabbits stroll by. The fall and
winter months are equally pleasant with cooler temperatures and majestic morning views. November and December rains often
bring snow, hot cocoa and fireside chats.

Apple Valley is located at the southern edge of the Mojave Desert. It is bordered by the cities of Victorville on the west and Hesperia on the southwest sides, with the village of Lucerne Valley a distance to the east. These three incorporated towns, along with city of Adelanto, are commonly known as the Victor Valley. The primary thoroughfare through Apple Valley is State Route 18, which is known locally as the "Happy Trails Highway", named after the theme song of Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. Roy and Dale once resided on Outer Highway 18. The commercial area is split currently between State Route 18 and Bear Valley Road (both roads are parallel until they intersect in the east outside of town). The Mojave River that borders the west side of Apple Valley, is one of only a handful of rivers in the world to flow magnetic north.
