Of the many communities that dot the Oregon Coast, few enjoy the privacy and tranquility of little Arch Cape. Though just a few minutes from Cannon Beach and Manzanita, its idyllic location between two state parks makes it a peaceful harbor from the bustle and crowds of its busier neighbors, something that comes at a steep price in many places along the Oregon Coast.
This charming one bedroom studio with room for four and perched on a bluff overlooking the Pacific is, however, the exception! Affordable and comfortable, this studio is part of an equally lovely ranch style home (also available for larger parties). It's a separate unit with a private entrance and has an amazing view of the Pacific with its mercurial moods and abundant life, including - in season - migrating whales!
This is a cheery space, with vibrant colors and unique decor you won't find in the cookie-cutter ambiance of the chain motels! In the morning, pour yourself a cup of coffee and step through the big sliding glass doors onto the deck where you'll enjoy an ocean vista you'll find hard to shake from your memory. (Don't forget the camera!) In the evenings, enjoy your favorite show on the TV (with cable) or kick back with a bowl of popcorn and watch a movie on DVD or VCR. Bring your laptop too - there's free WIFI.
Though this studio's kitchenette isn't equipped to handle a full course meal, it does have a microwave for a quick snack, a mini-fridge, and a coffee maker. Serve up your meal at the two-person table, also a perfect venue for that board game or a game of cards. If you're part of a larger party renting the whole house, head over to kitchen in the main house. If you don't feel like cooking at all, Cannon Beach and Manzanita are just minutes away.
With one bedroom and a queen-sized futon with a memory foam mattress, Bear's Head Studio has room for four. The bed is covered with lots of comfy pillows that you can sink into as you read that novel or magazine before bed. The studio comes with a full, nicely decorated bathroom as well.
Arch Cape is a residential community, so its main commodities are peace, quiet, and a wonderful ocean view that's the rival of any on the Coast. Because Bear's Head is located on a bluff, the road to the beach - a few blocks away - is a little longer, but the trade-off is well worth it!
Hikers will love it here. Nearby Oswald West State Park has a number of trails that culminate at Falcon Cape Overlook with its tremendous view of the ocean. The park also has a beach and beautiful places for a picnic. Anglers may just want to head south to Nehalem (about 7 miles) and cast their lines in the Nehalem River an try (in season) for the steelhead and trout. Nehalem also boasts a winery with a tasting room so you can pop in sample the fruit of is vines. And, of course, if you just have to find that perfect mug or tee-shirt for your cousin or have a night out, then nearby Cannon Beach and Manzanita are just a few minutes away.
Please be aware that if the other half of this unit is available as a separate booking during the off-season, so you may be sharing the deck with other guests.
So if you want privacy and value in a cozy space while you're visiting the Oregon Coast, then reserve this lovely little studio in Arch Cape for the perfect combination of quiet and quintessential beauty!

The house was clean and well kept. It was very well staged and the kitchen was well stocked with essentials. It was close to Beverly Beach and minutes to Depoe Bay and Newport, just what we were looking for. We really appreciated the barbeque on the deck. We used it several times. I was hoping for it to have more of an ocean view, but it did have somewhat of a view from the formal living room and the decks. We asked about spending an extra day and the property management staff were quick to respond and very professional.

We were in Newport for only a couple of days and I wish we had longer! The house made me not want to leave and felt so homey. I was happy that we chose this location and it was everything I expected! Although bring a first aid kit just in case of emergencies!
