Casa Monia A is a bright and elegant apartment with the strong charachter which derives from it actually being a restored old mill. It sleeps six people. From Casa Monia A you will enjoy a thrilling view of the Tuscan hills and of the vineyards. Casa Monia A is 140 square meters (1500 square feet). It features a shared swimming pool, a shared garden, a reserved outdoor area, winter heating and WI-FI Internet access.
You will be roughly 3.5 km (2.2 miles) from Serre di Rapolano, where you will find restaurants and shops.
Casa Monia A is located on the first floor. You will reach it from the main entrance of the building going up a stairway which consists of approximately 15 steps.
To stay at Casa Monia A you will need a car. You will be able to park it on the premises, in a private parking lot.
You will spend your vacation in an historic and fascinating location. A few steps away from the house, there is a large Etruscan tomb, dug straight into the rich vein of travertine which runs under the earth here.
The five apartments are part of a farming estate, at the heart of which is an historic medieval mill. This ancient stone building has been restored with love and respect for its original form, and is lovely to look at, standing alone and surrounded by greenery. Inside, there was a small mill-wheel, which was activated by one of the thermal springs with which this area is so richly endowed. Currently here you will find two of the five apartments.
Not far from here there is the one-level building in which three other vacation apartments are located.
Surrounding the entire complex you will find a beautiful lawn, divided by narrow stone pathways that cut across the greenery, and ornamented with urns overflowing with red geraniums. On this lawn, here and there, you will find on display some of the antique tools of "contadina" (peasant) life.
The farm practices organic agriculture, and you can buy extra-virgin olive oil, wine, truffles, vegetables and fruit on the premises. Also available for your use is a wine cellar, equipped with an Internet connection.
The proprietors live on the property, and will graciously make themselves available to you to provide information about tourist attractions, or to help meet whatever various needs you may have.
You will be spending your vacation in the middle of one of the most characteristic and often-photographed regions of Tuscany , an area that extends from Siena to Montalcino . You will be able to gaze across a stretch of gentle clay hills, which in springtime are resplendent with the various green tints of the pastures or of cultivated grains, and cloaked in summertime with myriad shades of gold and of ochre.
Where the grain ends, the vineyards begin, most notably in the zone of Montalcino, famous for the Brunello wines that are produced there. And at the summit of practically every hill, you will find rows of small, slender, dark-green cypress trees, rural houses, churches and ancient fortifications, as well as medieval villages marked by the tall, distant spikes of their towers.
Staying here you will be 4 km (about 2.5 miles) from Rapolano Terme . In the thermal baths of Rapolano you will be able to take every type of curative spa treatment in the warm pools, which are also open in the evenings.
You will be nearby the cities of art: Siena is 28 km away (17.5 miles), Florence 70 km (56 miles), Perugia 70 km (43.5 miles), Arezzo 40 km (25 miles); and nearby are the most characteristic Tuscan villages that you can visit, starting with Montalcino, birthplace of the famous Brunello wine, which is just 30 km (19 miles) away.
If you like handicrafts, you will find in the Crete Senesi a multitude of workshops in which terracotta is made according to ancient traditions.
In this area, from September to November, the white truffle—the most rare and precious of truffles—is found.
Don’t miss the opportunity to travel the “via Chiantigiana,” which is the road that cuts across the entire production zone of Chianti wines. Along this road, lined to the left and right with rows of vines, you will find hills topped with castles and villages, the results of two millennia of history.
You can visit cantinas, discover excellent small restaurants, and experience for yourself the friendliness of the locals which is such a great part of the fascination that Tuscany holds for the rest of the world.
If you enjoy hiking, you can walk the Senesi hills, or that part of the via Franchigena that crosses the Montagnola Senese, a protected hilly area, covered with chestnut trees, where nature is truly uncontaminated.
The swimming pool is 6 meters (20 feet) large by 12 meters (39 feet) long, from 1.20 meter (4 feet) to 1.5 meters (5 feet) deep. The swimming pool area is equipped with deck chairs. From the swimming pool you will enjoy a pleasant view of the Tuscan countryside and of the hills. You will share the pool with the other guests staying at the complex. It is open from the beginning of June until the end of September.
The garden is 3000 square meters (32300 square feet) large. It is partly shaded by trees. You will be able to reach it from the main entrance hall. It is equipped with a table, chairs and deck chairs. In the garden you will find a fenced children's playground. Here you will also find a brickwork barbecue. From the garden you will enjoy a pleasant view of the surrounding countryside. You will share the garden with the other guests staying at the complex.
In the laundry room you will find a washing machine at your disposal.

Casa Monia a was exactly what 6 weary travelers needed for a week. The grounds were lovely, our villa perfect for three couples and the proximity to great restaurants was surprisingly nice. Staying a week here was a highlight of our trip.

We spent six wonderful weeks in May and June at Casa Cipria enjoying Tuscany with all its great scenery and the many interesting places to visit. Casa Cipria is ideally located for site seeing with Siena, Montepulciano, Asciano, Pisa, Lucca, Florence,San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, etc with in easy reach by car. I am a cyclist and found many great rides on good roads with minimal traffic with the help of Sandro who supplied me with maps and directions. I have cycled all over the world and the roads around Casa Cipria are the best I have ever experienced. The people at Casa Cipria are extremely helpfull, friendly and generous. We thoroughly enjoyed the wonderfull garden with all the fresh produce. In general it was a great experience that we would recommend to anybody.

This was a specially planned holiday as my wife had said for years that she wanted to go to Italy for her 40th birthday. After a lot of searching I found Casa Cipria, an organic Agir-tourismo, or a working organic holiday farm. After a long drive from Switzerland we arrived to be greeted by our hosts who welcomed us with warm hospitality. The property was clean and tidy and the atmosphere laid back and peaceful - just how I like it. After getting to know the local area and sampling the luscious food from both the farm (armfuls of fresh oregano and huge tomatoes each day gave me the opportunity to make perfect pasta sauce) and the local shops in Asciano, we settled into enjoying ourselves. The highlights for me & my wife were the peace and quiet and local wines, and for my kids it was the pool and the farm's friendly dogs. The least liked aspect was italian drivers, who are absolutely crazy.
