Our sons live in asheville, and we had wanted to stay there for Christmas for a couple of years. The one non-negotiable amenity was a fireplace---Green Gables has 3! The home is lovely, and our hostess Georgia even more so. When she discovered a few hours before our arrival that we would be celebrating Christmas the next day, she redecorated the house with wreaths and a small lighted tree, set out wine and cookies, and addressed every member of our party by name in a welcome note. We were very impressed with the level of attention she gives her guests, personally taking care of all the details from booking to follow-up emails.
The house is cozy and comfortable, with an old-fashioned soaking tub, gas range, large-screen TV, electronics, internet access, laundry facilities, wonderful beds...just like home, only better! We had fun cooking in the well-equipped kitchen with goodies we bought at the local food co-op. The house is close to downtown, and in better weather we could easily walk to many places we like to go in asheville.
We visited the Biltmore Estate, the Southern Craft Guild shop, rode on the Blueridge Parkway, and of course had chocolate extravagance at the French Broad Chocolate Lounge. Doc Chey's restaurant on Biltmore Street provided perfect chicken soup for our son who was under the weather. (It was so good, we revisited the next day for lunch.) Georgia provides a large book with information on all these, which helped us plan our days.
We have stayed for shorter periods of time in asheville over the past few years, always in hotels. Our week at Green Gables has cured us of that, and we will stay in our new "home in the mountains" whenever we can in the future!

We really enjoyed staying at Green Gables, Georgia does a wonderful job making her guest feel at home. She took the extra step with a welcome basket, treats for our dog, breakfast items and plenty of information to ensure that we enjoyed our trip to the fullest. The time on the patio and the beautiful landscaping of the house, along with the attention to detail made for a perfect week. We look forward to staying at Green Gables in the future!

My wife and I stayed two nights in Georgia's beautiful home in Downtown asheville on april 8th and 9th. The home was clean and the location-minutes to the center of Downtown asheville and minutes to the Biltmore are perfect. Georgia was the perfect host greeting us upon arrival and giving us visitor information. The unit was well stocked with bread, milk and other basic food supplies and she even provided a welcome bottle of wine and home made cookies! The wrap around porch was great for morning coffee and a late night drink.

We so enjoyed our stay at Green Gables! Not only was it a beautiful home with a great location, but the service was impeccable! The owner knew it was a special occasion for our family, and we arrived to see a bottle of wine, a fruit basket, and a cake! It was a truly fabulous weekend in what felt like our home away from home.
“Perfect! Exceptional attention to detail! Southern hospitality!”

Green Gables is well appointed and charming. Coffee on the private wrap around porch was a delightful way to start the day. Georgia, provides the ingredients for continental breakfast. It was a pleasure to call it our home at the end of a busy day of sight-seeing, touring and shopping.

As we walked through the door and saw the personalized dog cookie, bottle of wine and welcome note we were delighted. As we walked from room to room we knew that this would be a place where we could totally relax and reflect. We almost forgot to visit asheville because in all honesty, one could be tempted to just not leave the house. Georgia made us feel as though we had a new friend for life and she was excited to meet us and welcome us. Everything about the stay was perfect as you will see by the photos of Gracie (who by the way has been moping about the house since we left).

We can't say enough about Georgia's beautiful home. From the moment my husband and I walked in the door, we were enchanted. We felt like we had stepped back in time. The woodwork, antiques, fireplaces, wood floors...all stunning. The kitchen was lovely, with high-end fixtures and stainless steel appliances. And stocked with everything you could possibly need. We had so much fun choosing which kind of coffee and Toaster Strudel to make each morning. The master bed was incredibly comfortable, with the softest sheets and matelasse bedspread. The other bedroom, which we didn't use, was beautiful as well.
It was my first Mother's Day, and I was touched to see that Georgia had left me an oversized cookie with "Happy Mother's Day" on it. We were also treated to a complimentary bottle of zinfandel and a fruit basket. Georgia thinks of everything! She greeted us upon arrival, letting us know that she was there if we needed anything. Her book for guests is so helpful.
Our baby girl, nine months old, had a great time crawling around. The place is full of antique furniture, but she didn't have any problems navigating. And Georgia provided everything we could need for our baby: booster seat with tray, bath chair, Pack n' Play with sheets and even a plastic ride-on-push car.
The front porch is a very relaxing place to sit and look out over the beautiful front garden. There are tons of gorgeous flowerpots and comfy places to sit. The porch is made of engineered wood - no worry about splinters for little crawlers!
The house is a bit away from downtown, but it is easy to drive anywhere. One of our favorite places was Downtown Market, just a few blocks away. Inside, you'll find a terrific flea market, Vietnamese restaurant, organic market, wine/beer place and the delicious Hi-Fi Coffee Bar. The panini sandwiches we had there were incredible.
Georgia, thanks again for everything...we have recommended your home to everyone, and we will be back!

We loved the hospitality at Green Gables. We were delighted with everything about our stay there - the roomy house, the beautiful decor, the thoughtfully equipped kitchen, the neighborhood, the location, and most of all, the special touches that make Green Gables feel like home. The Christmas tree was extra special! And thank you for being so kind to our dog, Rascal. We'll all look forward to coming back soon.

"Thanks for the hospitality. You were very helpful when it came to recommendations for restaurants & things to do. The Green Gables notebook really came in handy. Bella & Cooper also enjoyed their time here; chasing one another through the front yard & on the veranda. Green Gables is the perfect combo of old world charm meets modern convenience. Thanks for allowing us to bring our whole family (dogs included.) We will be sure to tell all of our families & friends about Green Gables. We look forward to seeing you again (hopefully sooner than later!)"
