Additional Location Information

The location of the apartment on the Athens Riviera, with it's own private parking space, makes it ideal for a relaxing quality seaside holiday all year round, but also to visit Athens without actually staying in the busy Greek capitol itself. There are three great sandy beaches at walking distance from the apartment, all with a beach bar/restaurant, umbrellas and free lounge chairs. One beach also offers a free tennis and basketball court and a small playground for children. Dozens more of other sandy and rocky organized and non organized beaches can be found all along the beautiful coastline.

A mini market, a large bakery and a Greek restaurant are at a 400m walk from the apartment; various other shops, a supermarket, cafetaria's and restaurants are on the main road, at just a 1 km (3/4 mile) walk from the apartment.

The apartment is located on the coast 30 km south of Athens center, which is easily and quickly accessible.
There is a bus stop at just 600m, from where the express bus leaves every 15 minutes to the newly opened (July 2013) Elliiniko Metro (subway) station, which takes you straight to the Acropolis and into Athens center.

Another advantage is that the apartment also at just 20 minutes by car from Athens International Airport.

Athens, the birthplace of democracy, best known for the Acropolis, has much to offer. From taking you on a journey to ancient times with it's many stunning archeological sites in the old part of town, to a modern city with shopping boulevards and a "buzzing" nightlife. One of the highlights of the city is the famous "Plaka" tourist district around the Acropolis, full of little shops and restaurants, where one feels like being on a Greek island. The newly opened (2011) award winning Acropolis museum is impressive, the Lycabettus hill, in the center of town with it's "Teleferic" cable cart inside the mountain, taking you up the mountain for a stunning view of Athens, all the way to Piraeus harbor. "Monastiraki" with it's famous flea market, the "posh" Kolonaki area with top brand name stores, "Kalimarmaro" the marble stadium of the first modern Olympic games and of course Athen's famous "Syndagma Square", with the neoclassical parliament building and the traditional Greek Soldiers, are other "musts". Piraeus harbor, just next to Athens with it's picturesque "mikrolimano" bay, full of restaurants also is a favorite hotspot.

Several famous sights are in the vicinity of the apartment, such as the impressive Cape Sounion with it's magical sunset and ancient temple of Poseidon (god of the sea), the temple of Artemis (Diana) goddess of Nature, hunt and family, in Vravrona. Next door Varkiza, with it's cafetarias and restaurants, lovely seaside walking boulevard and the popular "Yabanaki" beach restaurant/bar is great for a romantic night out. The picturesque Porto Rafti bay which gives you the feel of being on a Greek Island, is certainly worth a visit (especially in the evening). Shopping 'heaven' Glyfada with it's many cafetaria's, bars and buzzing nightlife is the "in" place to go on Friday afternoon/evening. The villages of Saronida and Anavisos, the latter with it's many seaside fish restaurants, the lively port of Lavrio where one can take a stroll on seaside and take the ferry to tzia (kia) island are also well worth visiting.

Day excursions can be made to Corinth (with it's impressive ancient city, Byzantine caste on the mountain top and the famous Corinth canal), combined with a visit to the nearby popular seaside resort of Loutraki with it's grand casino, the impressive ancient theater of Epidaurus still in use today for theatrical plays and the pittoresque Venetian city of Nafplion, the first capital of Greece and of course the Delphi site, with it's famous oracle.
