The Golden Bee is located on a bus line, just step outside and walk 15 feet to a bus stop. All buses go to the centro and if you cross the street you can catch a city bus that will take you the Mine and into the centro from that direction too. Also you can walk down hill and through one of Guanajuato’s famous tunnels into the beauty of the centro for restaurants, museums and shopping. Buses are 5 pesos and Taxis to and from the centro are around 35 pesos.
Laura and John are the care takers for the Golden Bee. They are from Portland Oregon and are wonderful people.
Laura has doctorate level psychotherapist with a private practice in Portland and John worked as a Computer Engineer for 32 years. John is a computer expert and ‘jack of all trades’ and Laura is working at being an artist, and figuring out what she would like to do in retirement.
Together they have a complementary set of skills including all facets of home maintenance, computer application/programming, website maintenance and general small business management. They are incredibly helpful and creative problem solvers. We are so lucky to have them shining up the Golden Bee.
Also at the Golden Bee are our doggies, Tullia Toolbox (named after the last Queen of Roma). Tullia and Glaxy Hammer. They have their own gated area to run around in.
There is a beautiful stone wall that surrounds the property and a fifty year old Garambullo cactus that is magnificent.
The Golden bee is situated in a residential neighborhood but is only a ten- fifteen minute walk from down town. Little business and eateries are popping up all the time. A food stand just opened up across the street and there are little grocery stores within walking distance. If you head up the hill behind the Golden bee there is the beautiful old Mellado church at the top with a sweet plaza out front.
The Golden Bee is all new construction using a new material called Convintec. Coventec is considered a lead platinum green product. It is a structural wired panel filled with a rigid insulation, which is than covered in stucco. In completion of the Golden Bee we will have solar water heaters and solar lighting capabilities. We are now is the first stage of building. The second stage will be to add a dance studio and dormitory for future retreats....Read more
