Once the first suburb of Austin, Travis Heights is now the most central neighborhood in the city, less than a mile west from Interstate 35, one mile south of 71 and 45, and a short drive from Mopac or Loop 1. The upscale homes in Travis Heights are diverse and tasteful, no mac mansions here, home owners are proud of the neighborhood's history and identity, many of the homes are restored forties and fifties cottages, interspersed with a few modern structures.
There minutes walk from the casita is three acre Big Stacy Park, connected by Blunn Creek Greenbelt to six acre Little Stacy Park. There are beautiful trees that provide natural shade, and open spaces to enjoy. Big Stacy Park even boasts of a natural spring-fed public swimming pool. Whether you choose a short leisurely stroll or a good run, you can do so right from your doorstep.
SOCO or South Congress with its eclectic shops, boutiques and restaurants is one mile to the west while downtown is two and a half miles away or less than ten dollars cab ride. Some of the best restaurants and shopping in Austin are on SOCO, walkable from the casita, about a mile through the neighborhood.
