Overlooking Lake Travis in the Hill Country, this one-of-a-kind architectural gem is off the beaten-path and at the center of things. As you approach over tree-covered hillsides which drop to the midnight-blue water below, you’ll get more the impression that you are in the Greek Islands or southern Italy than in Texas.
Since the Tram House can only be reached by tram, you’ll park at the base of the hill, climb into the tramcar, and let your horizon expand as you are carried 210 feet up the 55 degree hillside to the panoramic views of Lake Travis. Built in perfect alignment with the slope of the hill and standing at ‘treetop’ height, it is the only house east of the Rocky Mountains that requires a tram to access.
The Tram House boasts three private balconies, custom-designed skylights, and corner windows in the living room and bedrooms that allow unobstructed views. The three-level, contemporary-style home is comfortably furnished with all new décor. It has been featured in Austin Monthly and Parade magazines.
With its unparalleled views, exclusive location, modern comfort and competitive rates, neighbors and visitors alike rave about the unique Tram House. Come and see for yourself! Contact us for more information about this exceptional lake destination.

There is absolutely nothing negative to say about The Tram House!
From beginning to end, the owners were very accommodating.
We usually stay at Barton Creek Resort when we go to austin but decided we wanted to stay somewhere with more privacy. And we certainly were not disappointed! My family loved the four balconies and the lovely views from each one. Forget about going to the Oasis to eat. The view from the main balcony at the Tram House is much more enjoyable and private. Instead of eating at restaurants, we either ordered take-out and ate on the balcony or cooked in the kitchen at the Tram House. This kitchen has everything you could possibly need - it was better equipped than mine! There is a Target and HEB less than 10 minutes away which was very convenient.
Riding the tram to and from the house made the experience just magical for our toddler and preschooler. My daughter tossed a penny in a wishing well for the 1st time last week and her wish was to go back to the Tram House...soon! Another thing we loved were the two cats that were sometimes outside. But don't worry, if you aren't a "cat person" they won't bother you. My daughter coaxed them to her with cat treats and they were very sweet with her.
Again, we had a 100% positive experience here. As the other reviews mention, you will not want to leave after you arrive. It is "instant relaxation" once you ride up the tram!

What a weekend! My wife and I did nothing and it was everything we thought it would be. We spent more time on the deck than anywhere else. This place is all about staying in. The bedrooms are comfortable, bathrooms are beautiful and the view from anywhere is the house is breathtaking. Keith is always merely a phone call away. Check in was effortless, groceries are within 5-minutes of the house and there is an abundance of walking trails. We will be back.

We were after something different for a long-weekend break to celebrate my wife's birthday. Something contemporary, with great views, and a good amount of privacy. I looked at dozens of hotels and guest houses, but none of them stood out, until I found the Tram House. We love the Lake Travis area in general, and to find such a unique property, for more or less the same price as a high-end hotel room was very lucky.
The tram adds a novel slant to the whole experience, and you're often accompanied by the resident cat (Callie?), who was amazingly sweet, and changed my life-long 'meh' attitude towards cats! The house itself is very well furnished, with a great kitchen, living room and, of course, two amazing bathrooms. The best thing is the view, and there's a couple of balconies (plus a tiny one in-between the bathroom and master bedroom) to just chill out on.
It normally takes us a few days to unwind from the usual day-to-day grind, but here we were relaxed within a day. There's just nothing bad to say about The Tram House, it's an amazing house, with great attention to detail in the finishes. The location is great, just 5 mins from The Oasis complex (that's grown a lot in the 3 years that we were last there, we had a great meal at Soleil), and 30 mins from downtown austin. There's a Target and Starbucks 10 minutes away if you need a fix.
