South Austin Gem Cottage – Walk to Downtown, SoCo, Zilker and More
This charming cottage, packed with personality, is tucked away among Pecan shade trees, with a garden for grilling and relaxing and is in a perfect spot for discovering Austin. You even get your own secure, gated parking spot — a rarity in this neighborhood!
Museums, food trucks, art galleries, boutiques, bars & cafes abound within walking or biking distance. Not to mention downtown, just a 1.5 mile walk away.
INSIDE THE COTTAGE
Open the door into a smartly designed, colorful & intuitive studio-style space with plenty of room for two guests.
In the living and sleeping area, a queen bed faces a flat-screen TV and a desk for catching up on email (WiFi is included).
There is an adjacent full kitchen, stocked with pots, pans & dishes. All major appliances are here too, including a dishwasher and a built-in washer/dryer unit for your laundry. Prepare everything from quick snacks to full meals and enjoy them at the dining table for three.
The newly remodeled bathroom boasts a tub/shower combo and a single vanity.
It doesn’t get much better than this center-of-the-universe South Austin location!
Before getting in line for brunch at South Congress Cafe, you may want to pick up a cupcake from Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop or a French Macaroon at La Patisserie. Then work off brunch by renting a bike at one of the many rental shops around town.
You’re just 1.5 miles from downtown including SXSW music venues, Austin City Limits, Fun Fun Fun Fest, Auditorium Shores & The Long Center, ZACH Theatre, and lots more.
Within a few blocks of some of the best restaurants in Austin including Alcomar, Sway, Elizabeth Street, and Lenoir.
The food truck craze started right around the corner from our home on South First Street. This “trailer park” is still home to Torchy’s Tacos, a landmark TexMex food trailer and a mighty fine queso maker.
Walk to ABGB, the Continental Club or Guero’s for live music or pick up a local cup ‘o Jo at Jo’s Coffee. For outdoor activities, walk or bike to Lady Bird Lake for boating, kayaking and bike trails or head to Barton Springs for a swim or hike. Remember to bring your camera. You will want to snap a few shots of the local graffiti art around town!
