“Lovely Place, Highly Recommended” The spotless, cosy and roomy accommodation was ideal for our family of two adults and two teenage boys. We enjoy the outdoors and the location of the property was ideal for this. Good mountain biking routes set off from the cottage and several Munros and smaller hills were easily accessible from the cottage. If you want peace and space to explore the cottage is ideal, and even has a large porch for muddy wet gear. Anyone looking for lively attractions visitor's centres, nightlife and entertainment would be disappointed though. Aviemore, with its supermarket, pubs restaurants, clay pigeon shooting and other outdoor pursuits is only a few miles away.

“Total relaxation...” This was just what the doctor ordered, the home provides everything you need. The location we knew with visiting the area for years and was why we chose here, but it was the first time at this address. With the new Costcutter store over the rail line, shopping was just a short walk so no need for the car. The one thing I did not like was the guy came to cut the grass during our stay, luckily we were out that afternoon. But had we been sat in the garden or house we would not have had the privacy we were there for ? I suggest the grass gets cut in the hours between guest check out & next guest check in ?

“Very relaxing holiday” A lovely comfortable cottage and a nice welcome from the owner with homemade cake. Cottage could not be better. Very clean and comfortable with great views. Only suggestion I would make would be that a tumble dryer would be useful for winter stays.

“Excellent accomodations” "Wonderful" is just one of the ways we can describe the week we stayed at Dunstaffnage Cottage. Excellent accomodations - roomy - clean - comfortable. Kitchen was generally well appointed - excellent appliances and more than enough dishes and flatware. The local Co-op grocery store was an easy 10 minute walk, so we never wanted for anything. Location was excellent - Granton-on-Spey proved to be an excellent base of operations from which we could go visit the region's castles, distilleries and other attractions. Sandy proved to be a wonderful host, quickly responded to all of our needs and provided good insight into the local pubs and restaurants. We would come back to the Cottage in a heart beat. Thanks Sandy.

Katchana, Kincraig

Kincraig house

  • 3 bedrooms
  • 2 bathrooms

“Wow! What a view!” This was a relatively last minute booking and represented good value for money. Katchana is in a beautfiul setting; close to centres of activity like aviemore (approx 9 miles) but not too far (in Scottish terms) from Inverness and tourist 'attractions' like Loch Ness, Glencoe, Ben Nevis etc. The property itself felt extremely spacious for 2 adults and a 3 year old and I would imagine that an extra child / adult would still give a feeling of space and not the sense that one is living on top of each other. That said, the bedrooms are quite small. However, the living areas (kitchen diner, dining area and living room) are, in contrast, vast and perfect for relaxing. I agree with one of the other reviews - there are a few areas in the property that aren't as inviting (the 'enclosed balcony' at the end of the lounge / utility space) - this is mainly because they look like they could do with a bit of a tidy up and appear to be an 'afterthought'. Katchana is situated in an breathtakingly beautiful location with oodles of land / view points around it (particularly if you interested in wildlife). It could be made an extremely luxurious property if a little more attention was paid to small details. (eg. replacing light bulbs, better ambient lighting, few more kitchen utensils, better tourist information booklets etc). They're only little things and on balance we absolutely loved our time here.

Pipers Cottage
Wonderful Scottish adventure

After exploring the west coast and Skye we were delighted to arrive at pipers cottage. Relaxing in the hot tub was great and the kids loved it! Sky TVs and wifi was much enjoyed after being off grid for a week. Clean and set up with everything we needed. I didn't bump down stairs but everyone else did. Maybe if you have young kids bring a portable gate for peace of mind. Would defo come again. Wish we booked the full week.see more

Great week

Had a wonderful week at Laggan. Enjoyed the walks, reading by the fire, and the local coffee place (10 minutes away). The waterfall 2 minutes from the property is breathtaking. Aviemore is a great day trip with lots of lovely walks and the a great farm shop for local food and lunch. I'd definitely go back.see more

Book It Quick

This property is superb, purpose built as a holiday let using wood which has been sourced locally and is very comfortable. It has everything you could possibly want including excellent views and the pleasure of passing trains which are not at all intrusive, even the very occasional one passing during the night which all adds to the ambience. The location is very convenient for touring with good access to the A9 and even the West Coast at Fort William is only an hour away If you do not want to use a car you can get a train to Inverness or Perth virtually from the front door. Book it quickly because it is,rightly, very popular and one of the very best self catering lets in Scotland.see more

Our home from home in lovely Speyside

This cottage is delightful and in a perfect location within a short walk through forest to Loch Insh Watersports Centre. Jennifer the owner has made the cottage so charming and cosy and is always on hand should anything arise. we stayed in this cottage for over 20 years on holiday before it was sold and are delighted to be able once again to make it our favourite holiday house. Now our grandchildren love to come and stay and enjoy the freedom of the outdoor space and the ponies in the field, see more

wonderful

We spent the week over new year 2013/14 at this magnificent country house with beautiful views over the river Spey and to the snow covered Cairngorm. It was a perfect venue for a family party to celebrate the special birthday of a grandparent. Three generations appreciated the ambiance of this well appointed, spotlessly clean, well cared for house. The huge Christmas tree in the hall was very welcoming and added to the festive spirit. We enjoyed walking, Ski-ing, swimming and sitting by the open log fire with an abundance of logs provided. Many thanks to Evelyn for all her help during our stay. No one wanted to go home - we hope to return.see more

Well appointed retreat from the world

Well appointed property. Quiet and peaceful location although flipside is that it can feel a little isolated at times. Restaurants in the area not great but the kitchen in the property is more than adequate to cook up a feast yourself. Helpful owners will give you all you need to know via a phone call. Makes you feel like a trusted and welcome guest to their family holiday home, perfect. Would definitely stay again!see more
