Castagni d'Oro Bed and Breakfast

Run by an English couple, Castagni d'Oro B&B; is a small and friendly guest house in a beautiful 350 year old house situated in a pretty hill-top village in the lush green mountains only 25 miles north of Lucca. Never ruined or rebuilt, the house retains most of the original features such as brick floors and ceilings, old chestnut beams and stone stairs.

There are 2 comfortable en-suite guest rooms, one with views towards the village piazza and the other looking out over valleys and rocky mountains.

The village is very quiet and peaceful and has all-round views of mountains, forests and valleys, rich in wildlife such as deer, wild boar, porcupines, ...Read more

Additional Location Information

Castagni d'Oro B&B; is in the tiny village of Brandeglio, sitting on top of a small, tree-covered mountain in the Pizzorne mountain range with spectacular views down into the steep river valleys below and up to the huge rocky Apennine mountains. Situated about 25 miles north of Lucca, the village has a typical piazza, ancient houses pressing up against each other in narrow streets and a beautifully over-the-top church. A new bar / restaurant and pizzeria has opened in the village serving food all day every day. Bagni di Lucca is only a 15 minute drive away and has shops, restaurants and banks. 30 minutes gets you to the city of Lucca, and Pisa with its leaning tower is an hour away, and Abetone, Tuscany's premier skiing resort, and Viareggio with miles of golden sandy beaches are all an hour or so to drive.
For a little culture, Florence is an hour and a half away.
A car is essential for this region, as public transport struggles with steep mountains and winding river valleys.
