“Still thinking about our wonderful holiday on Skye”

Definitely the best equipped holiday cottage we have stayed in - and we have stayed in cottages all over Skye. All the basic needs are covered and some of the luxuries too - like hot water bottles for chilly nights. Very comfortable and homely with a beautiful view. Only complaint was that the house was not really very warm. We had a good week weather-wise, but the temperature was in the 4 - 6 degrees range and we found the house rather cold in the evenings, even with the heating and electric fire on. It was of course a particularly cold spring this year, so perhaps in a normal year it would be fine. Also, the cottage is very private - the last house on the road and so peaceful. Saw an otter, eagle and a seal from the window. I would certainly go back to Balmaquein and am thinking of taking my mum there for her 80th birthday.

A lovely cottage on the edge of the sea. Wonderful views-even in rough seas! The shoreline was very rocky -like being on your own little island.Great for dogs, but had to keep an eye out for the resident sheep. Might not be suitable for very young children.
A good location to see everything in North Skye, and further south.Wonderfully solitary, but just off the main road around the island. Sunsets behind the house were great.Very comfortable house.Everything we needed. We would willingly stay here another time. Didn't want to leave!

Weather was brilliant.
Cottage was brilliant.
Fishing was exceptional.
I am a regular visitor to the island and love this area. This is the first time staying at this cottage and loved every minute. The cottage is cosy and romantic but the sunsets and sunrises are to die for. If you are looking for peace and tranquillity, then this cottage is well recommended.

We were looking for peace & tranquility and found it. The property is on the shoreline and a seal visited the small bay virtually daily. Sheep wandered through the rugged landscape, curious about the occupants of the house and a seagull watched daily hoping for food. The views including the sunsets are magnificent and the property is very comfortable - good seating and beds. Everything that you might need is provided (other than pegs?) and the local manager is lovely, offering any assistance when needed. No complaints at all.

Five of us spent a week on the Isle of Skye and had the best week ever! The weather was very kind to us (when the rest of Britain was drowning!) and the cottage very comfortable. Decor is outdated but lovely still. Rooms were spacious, warm and comfortable. We fished off the rocks and Barbequed the fish on the rocks. We saw a sea otter on most days. If you are looking for a holiday to relax, read a few good books and enjoy the views of the ocean then this is it. Plenty to do on the days you don't feel like reading.
