Spectacular views of Frenchmans Bay, walk to ANP, beach & the village of Bar Harbor
Cedar Ledge is a private, secluded seaside home surrounded by Acadia National Park, with breathtaking views of Frenchman's Bay and the Porcupine Islands. Walking distance to downtown Bar Harbor.
The property includes short private trails to a peaceful rock beach and the national park's Compass Harbor. I don't think there is a more beautiful place to stay in the entire Bar Harbor / Acadia area and I know you will agree as soon as you look out a window or step onto one of our three balconies!
The space:
In addition to complete privacy and being surrounded by Acadia National Park, our view is really what sets our home apart from other houses. There is one true outdoor balcony with propane grill and picnic table, one indoor/outdoor dining and lounging area surrounded by glass windows which can be open or closed, and one screened balcony (attached to the second living space, see below for description).
From each of these balconies you will enjoy panoramic views of Acadia, Frenchman's Bay, and the Porcupine Islands. When we are in our home, we spend nearly all our time looking out into the bay, whether we are eating dinner in the indoor/outdoor area, using the screen porch as an office and relaxation space, or grilling fresh local seafood out on the deck.
The home is divided into two living spaces: the primary with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and kitchen and the secondary with 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, and kitchenette. Both living spaces have large sitting areas with satellite TV, smart TV (Netflix, Hulu, etc) and large porches for dining and relaxing.
The separate secondary 2 bedroom (Queen & double twins) 1 Full Bath apartment allows some privacy within your group, having its own living room, bedrooms, bath, and balcony with the same vast oceanfront views.
The two living areas are connected by a sun-soaked entrance hall with beautiful ferns growing under the stairs, a thriving herb garden, some comfy chairs, and plenty of space to hang backpacks or leave shoes. Feel free to make use of anything from the garden, where depending on the time of year you may find fresh basil, mint, oregano, cilantro, parsley, rosemary, spring onions or even tomatoes if you're lucky :)
Guest access:
The house is fully private on a large plot of land surrounded mainly by Acadia National Park, and you have full access to all of our amenities, including propane BBQ grill on the balcony, lobster pot, herb garden, all of the standard essentials you would expect, and of course the many trails on the property that lead to the shore for the rugged adventure seekers. There is a beautiful nearly-private rock beach below, of which just a small chunk is part of our property, the rest is part of Acadia. The beach and house are adjacent to Compass Harbor, Dorr Point and some beautiful walking trails through the forest.
Brand new enclosed sunroom/deck is one of the highlights of the house.
Convenient to downtown Bar Harbor and Jackson Laboratory. Lovely wooded setting. Very quiet.
Other things to note:
Weekly, 7 night minimum, Saturday-Saturday bookings. No pets. No smoking.Linens & towels provided.
The upstairs of the home is locked off and not available to renters. But don't worry, the downstairs has the same views from the balcony and sunroom!
