Description from the owner
La Luz Barcelona; a spacious old-style apartment (85m2), next to the beach, will give you an experience of traditional Spain. You could be meting Antoni Gaudi here. The floor is covered in original tiles from the 1900's with mosaic patterns, the doors are in colonial style and the ceiling of the apartment is built with arches over wooden beams.
The thick walls keep the apartment cool during the hot summer. There is a small balcony where you can sit and have a nice breakfast. You will feel the Mediterranean atmosphere right away. You can live your dreams in La Luz. Relax and dream away in the warm Spanish sun and have a fabulous time.

La Luz Barcelona, traditional apt next to the beach
Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain
Additional Location Information
La Luz Barcelona is located next to the beach. The perfect location for a beach holiday.
Entering La Luz, you find a big living room with a big comfortable couch on your left, with double doors opening on a French balcony. The balcony is connected to the dining area and the open kitchen. Next are the three bedrooms: two master bedrooms and one small bedroom, all equipped with double beds and ceiling fans. On the other side of La Luz, you find the gallery with the toilets on the left, and the bathroom with a shower on the right.
The apartment is equipped with central heating to keep everything and everybody warm and cosy in the winter, which can sometimes be a bit chilly at night (although you will still have a clear blue sky and sunshine). The climate in Barcelona is a lot different and smoother than in Northern Europe. Winter in Barcelona is like springtime further north. That is a nice warm spring, without rain and with clear blue skies.
The neighbourhood is called "Pueblo nuevo" means new village. It really is a new village. New luxurious apartment blocks have been built everywhere. However, La Luz is located in one of the few old buildings still remaining in Pueblo Nuevo. There are only 6 apartments in it, all residential, and your neighbours are all Spanish.
Pueblo Nuevo has its own Ramblas, and they are a 5 minutes walk from the La Luz Barcelona. You will find lots of typical Spanish restaurants offering tapas or paella. Dinner is rather late in Spain, you can sit and eat outside or just stroll along the Ramblas and enjoy the warm outdoors life.
The Ramblas of Pueblo Nuevo are very lively. In the day time, during siesta time (from approximately 1 PM until 4 PM), many local restaurants offer a lunch menu which consists of a starter, a main course with dessert and a drink, for less than 10 Euro. Andalucia, for example, is a nice simple warm day restaurant, at Ramon Turro, one block down from La Luz. Or turn right on Ramon Turro and sit down at Tras Paso. Around 5 PM these restaurants close and dinner is a more formal affair, late in the evening. On your way to Las Ramblas de Pueblo Nuevo (Poble Nou), you find the local old centre with little shops selling olives, fish or other local products. A bit hidden away behind the pedestrian street, you'll find the indoor market, with lots of smoked ham, jamon serrano, chorizo or delicious cheese. There is a big supermarket on the top floor (Mercadona).
A few examples of well known Spanish restaurants close by La Luz are:
Of course you also have the wide range of restaurants directly on Las Ramblas de Pueblo Nuevo
You can almost see the blue sea from the balcony. The beach is only four minutes away on foot.
You'll find free showers to wash off the sand, a beach library and a pier with a restaurant, La Orka, which has a great seaview, as well as the Chiringitos, or beach cafés. These offer good music and drinks until late in the night.
The beach is a 4.2 km stretch of golden sand in the Pueblo Nuevo area. Since the massive clean-up operation of the beach and nearby Olympic marina for the 1992 Olympics, this area has become a magnet for Barcelonans and visitors alike. A lot of effort goes in keeping both the sand and the sea clean. The water is sampled daily, and all beaches have disabled access, lifeguards (in season), sun beds and free showers. The night life along the beach is very pleasant, with the Chiringitos, which are small bars with a very large terrace (the beach), good music, special DJs, drinks until late at night, and of course parties!
Shopping centre Diagonal Mar
The new shopping mall Diagonal Mar, in front of the Forum, has lots of clothing and fashion shops. "Rebajas" (sales) take place several times a year; watch out for the "segundo rebaja", following the initial sales, it is even cheaper. Keep in mind that clothes are already normally a lot cheaper than in Northern Europe. The shopping mall offers an indoor food court and a big outdoor terrace with lots of restaurants. In front of the door you will find the tram stop if you want to go along Diagonal to Les Glories, where a big flee market is held on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. It's also the tram line for the Barcelona Zoo
