Additional Location Information

Beaverton is just one hour north of Toronto. It was first settled in 1822, largely Scottish in origin, at the mouth of Beaver River to Lake Simcoe. As part of the creation of Durham Region in 1974, Beaverton was amalgamated with Thorah Township, the original Brock Township and the Villages of Cannington and Sunderlnd to create the newly expanded Township of Brock. Beaverton has a current population of 3500. In the summer, the beautiful harbour, cement pier, sandy beach, lake activities and festivals attracted a large influx of tourists and cottagers. The beauty and rich history of Beaverton can be experienced by a historical downtown walk. Enjoy the typical Canadian small town charm, with history and cultural attractions: old town hall, old stone church (a National Historic Site of Canada), the stone jail house, library, LCBO, bars, restaurants, fashion stores, Foodland super market, CIBC & TD banks. Multiple movies were shot in the Beaverton area.
