Additional Location Information
Come and discover for yourself this lovely 700 square foot gîte located in the midst of the gardens on Rob and Polly’s lake front home. This vacation house rental, provides you with a self catering holiday, waterfront access, a private dock, gardens, seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables ready to pick and eat. The lake is about 100 steps from the Gite, in the backyard of the main house. The lake is quiet with mostly canoes, kayaks, fisherman and the occasional boats, skidoo's or seaplanes. On weekends it can get a bit more active, especially around the 4th of July. The wildlife around the lake is stunning, Eagles soar above, ducks, birds and geese and sometimes swans swim off the dock which is surrounded by water lilies in the summer months. Its close to the I5 which is the highway crossing north to south of the cascade mountains. We are located in Washington State “The Ever Green State”
The Cascade Mountains run parallel to the coast the entire length of the state.
Washington is divided into two distinct climates. The western third is a temperate rain forest climate, while the eastern two-thirds of the state is warmer and drier.
The Gîte is located along the coast in the temperate rain forest climate, so rain gear is imperative all year round but rarely necessary in the summer months. Also the rain is mostly a soft drizzle. It is seldom you see an umbrella.
The Gîte is only 18 miles from the quaint district of Fairhaven and its city Bellingham. Situated 67 miles north is the City of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and 80 miles south is Seattle.
Day trips: We are surrounded by oceans, mountains and gentle countrysides. The stunning Chuckanut Drive, Deception Pass, Anacortes, Le Conner, Skagit Valley and its renown seasonal tulip fields are all within reach. Mount Baker is open for skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer.
Washington State Day Trips: Diablo Dam, Columbia Valley, Wenatchee, Lake Chelan, Winthrop. Drive through the mountainous Washington State Pass. Take Ferry rides to the Islands along the Straits of Juan de Fuca and to Victoria on Vancouver Island.
