Luxe East Bay Home - spectacular views of S F Bay
Perfect for a couple or two friends, my home is situated in the El Cerrito hills, directly across the San Francisco Bay from the Golden Gate Bridge.
You can drive into the City in 30 - 45 minutes, or hop on BART just 5 minutes away and enjoy the ride under the Bay and in half an hour be in the heart of San Francisco. From our convenient location you are minutes from the freeway taking you to Napa and the Wine Country. It's 10 minutes drive to UC Berkeley, or to Chez Panisse and the other restaurants and shops of Berkeley's famed Gourmet Ghetto.
Enter through a wooden gate into my serene private front garden.Inspired by Oriental landscaping you can relax on the slate and redwood terracing. This is a perfect warm weather spot for sunny morning coffee, or soothing afternoon shade.
The cool tiled entry hall with its original English Art Deco Chinoiserie lantern leads into the morning room. Relax and enjoy the morning sun and views of the garden through the arched windows. The ceiling light in this room is French Art Deco and the wall lights are original to the house.
My piano is available for serious pianists.
If you enjoy entertaining then the dining room with its stylish original Art Deco table which folds out to comfortably seat 6 and the Italian dining chairs will serve you well..
Asian antiques and fine English and American artwork complement the mood.
The kitchen features a gas stovetop with convection oven, dishwasher, fridge, microwave and - as I enjoy cooking and entertaining - every convenience and appliance you could wish for.
Now enter the living room with a wall of windows framing the San Francisco Bay. A bistro table with chairs provides an ideal spot for breakfast or any casual meal.
Comfortable seating, large screen TV, DVD and DVR plus a gas flamed fireplace mean that summer and winter you can enjoy magnificent views or the best in entertainment from the comfort of your own space.
The house has two bedrooms separated by a bathroom. As I have fitted out the second bedroom as an office with a murphy bed, I limit guests to a maximum of two people.TripAdvisor property ID 2070714...Read more

Additional Location Information
We are located in the hills of El Cerrito a quiet and safe East Bay suburb. The BART station and El Cerrito mall with it's twice weekly Farmers Market are just 5 minutes away. Park confidently outside the house and enjoy strolling round the neighborhood. The freeway which takes you in all directions is just 5 minutes away so this is an ideal position for somebody who wants to explore the region and perhaps prefers to visit rather than stay in San Francisco.

It is with great pleasure we submit this review for this terrific El Cerrito home. In the highly competitive market of vacation rentals in the San Francisco vicinity, nothing proves our complete satisfaction more than the fact that we are repeat renters for periods as short as a week to stays as long as two and three months. The house, deck, spectacular sunset views, furnishings, artworks, and piano speak for themselves. Many owners of vacation rentals strip their homes of anything of artistic or decorative value but not so this property. If you are looking for a house with the look of a corporate hotel suite, then this house is not for you. It is a true home away from home.
For those not familiar with the East Bay a word must be said about its location. Many rental homes are located in the remote Berkeley hills, which if you are not familiar with the area, means far from any public transportation and located on winding narrow two way streets with limited parking that barely allow one car to pass. Without sacrificing the view of the Bay, this house is well located on a wide street, a short 20 minute walk from the El Cerrito Plaza Bart station, shopping, and two short stops from the center of Berkeley. A longer but no less easy ride will take you under the Bay to San Francisco.
All our dealings with the owners have never been less than professional and if you have any doubts whether the cleaning fee is really just a hidden fee with little discernible benefit, know that the owners are blessed by having the longtime services of a wonderful professional cleaning service that guarantees that this beautiful home will be spotless, well appointed, and ready for a wonderful stay.

We stayed two weeks in May 2013 in El Ceritto. The apartment of andrew
exceeded our expectations. Everything is tastefully decorated and
very well maintained. We have felt ourselves very well. And the view from the terrace on the San Francisco Bay can not be described with words. Simply fantastic.
The equipment of the apartment leaves absolutely nothing to be desired.
Thank you for the wonderful comments. I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to your return

The flat's El Cerrito neighbourhood is peaceful and quiet, yet just a 5 minute drive from a Bart station for a convenient (40 minute) ride into San Francisco. Our car stayed parked at the flat, or near the Bart (at the Safeway next to station for grocery shopping) for much of our week there (except for a short trip to Napa Valley and a drive to the Point Reyes lighthouse.) We bought a three-day transit pass that served us very well as we toured the city. The flat was so lovely that we chose to spend a couple of days simply chilling on the large elevated deck (sunny all week.) The living space is roomy and well-equipped; the kitchen has everything you could ever need. The decor is eclectic and tasteful, yet very comfortable. The best part of our El Cerrito stay had to be the sunsets with the Bay,the city, the Golden Gate Bridge all there for our pleasure.. even the bits of fog were lovely. Thanks, Andrew.. you are a great host.

My husband and I just spent one week in California and rented El Cerrito using it as our home base. It was so easy to get to and from all the great sites surrounding the San Francisco area. Bart is only 10 minutes away so no need to drive into the city. The home itself is decorated beautifully along with soft lighting and comfortable beds it is a very relaxing atmosphere to come home to after a day of sightseeing. It offers a fully equiped kitchen and a great grill on the deck. Several stores and restuarants are within a few minutes drive. I would reccomend this to anyone and would go back again in a minute.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in andrew's beautiful home. It was on a quiet street, confortable, spotless, spacious...everything you could ask for. The kitchen is stocked with every appliance and utensil you could need. The views of the bay from the deck and other rooms were incredible. Traveling into San Francisco by car and by Bart were very easy. The Bart station is a few blocks away. The street was quiet and we were able to park for free and rest well every evening. We loved having a gas fireplace that turned on at the flip of a switch and a washer and dryer. It was perfect and we would stay there again and highly recommend it to anyone. Andrew was so prompt in answering every question I had before the trip. He also refunded our security deposit the day we checked out - before our plane landed back in atlanta. He made the whole experience from start to finish so easy.
I am so glad you enjoyed your stay and appreciate you taking the time to say so.

We spent a week at andrew and Gorden's home. It was a little slice of heaven. Large, beautifully decorated with a gormet kitchen and deck with a great view of the bay. The deck was the perfect place to unwind with a glass of wine after a full day of fun with our granddaughter. An extra is its location. Convenient to Salerno ave stores and resturants as well as Berkley. You will not go wrong by staying here.
I am so glad you enjoyed your stay, my home and the delights of Solano Ave.Thank you for posting your comment. Andrew

Our stay was magical -how could it not be with a view that brings the heavens to the back patio overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. While in the front patio you can imagine yourself in a far away country. Andrew has appointed his home eclectically and with great warmth. The house was inviting with all the kitchen amenities that you could have at home. Warm, spacious, and a view what more could you want -You will experience the best of the East Bay, SF and a view unparalleled staying here.
Thanks Judith, I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed the house and the wonderful views. I look forward to you returning soon.

We so enjoyed our stay in El Cerrito. The views were incredible and the accommodations lovely. The home was well equipped and clean.
It was an easy trip to stores and neighborhood restaurants. The freeway was close by. We have family in Kensington (in the Berkeley Hills) and it was most convenient to visit with them.
We would recommend this home to any adults wanting to visit the San Francisco Bay area. Sitting in the living room or relaxing on the large deck were greatly enhanced by the views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Bay Bridge, Alcatraz et al.
