Additional Location Information

Prenzlauer Berg, the heart of East-Side Berlin. Snuggled between Berlin's contemporary glass towers and austere concrete slabs, this quaint 'kiez' exudes a wholesome atmosphere comprised of tree-lined streets, colourful boutiques, open cafés and a sprightly cosmopolitan mix. There's a unique creative buzz to Prenzlauer Berg. Artists and alternative individuals who came from places such as New York and Paris to seek cheaper rental properties in the 1990s have remained and have clearly enriched the area.

The 'Berber' studio apartment is very conveniently located in Erich-Weinert Strasse, between Schönhauser Allee and Greifenhagener Strasse.

The Mauerpark is surely a space to see on a Sunday. But if you're in the mood for a more private kind of public relaxation, head to another Prenzlauer Berg favorite, Wasserturmplatz. The water tower and its surrounding park are a local go-to for friendly gatherings and quiet contemplation. Schönhauser Allee leads you right down to the lively Alexanderplatz, one end of Unter den Linden ("under the linden trees"). Here you'll find museums, art galleries, opera and historical places of interest that takes you to the Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag, on the edge of the 520 acres of the Tier Garten. A park of great beauty with diverse landscapes to discover as one wanders its avenues, pathways, lawns, meadows, ponds, flower beds – the rhododendrons in bloom are legendary - and landscaped gardens. Benches are tucked away for quiet contemplation. Pedal power taxis – or Velotaxis – are a lovely, if slightly lazier, way to go. Here, you'll also find Café am Neuen See – the small lake (Neuer See) can freeze up in winter and provides a wonderful northern winter landscape and in the summer it is transformed into a popular outdoor Self-Service Restaurant and Biergarten.

After a bit of contemplation, you can take a short walk to busy Potsdamerplatz to see the spectacular modern architecture of the Sony Centre and surrounding buildings.
