Additional Location Information

For a few years Dalmatia is one of the most popular touristic destinations;
for the families who are looking for quiet and relaxing vacations and as well for the
families who are looking for active vacations
Most popular are typical Dalmatian stone houses.

You are probably wondering why is Dalmatia so popular? Here are some reasons ...

- Diversity of plant and animal species
- Diversity of flora and fauna;

Rich historical and cultural inheritance and interesting history of Dalmatia with even more interesting tradition and customs

- Good geographical location, Mediterranean clime

- More than 1000 incredibly beautiful islands, the most numerous are Kornati
- More than 800 beautiful, clean beaches (some of them are on Murter)
- In general unpolluted landscape
- Dalmatians are hospitable, open and generous
- Diverse, healthy, traditional food and different sorts of wines

- Murter- gajeta

- Gajeta is a traditional boat and it is also the brand name and the symbol of the shipbuilding industry in Betina, which persists for over 260 years. In our house was the smithy in which they minted iron and metal parts for gajetas.

- Betina

- Betina was named after the Celtic word "bet" (it means " mouth ") which picturesque describes appearance and location of Betina port. Betina was founded in the 15th Century by refugees who were running from the Turks.
- Betina (774 residents) is very vivid and well-preserved. Betina is known for traditional Dalmatian and Mediterranean architecture
- Betina is full of narrow alleys and passages, old stone houses, boardwalks, shipyards and balconies.
- . Three symbols of Betina are: St. Francis church, the local square by the sea (square is center of the events) and the port. Due to the location and authenticity Betina is considered one of the most beautiful places in Croatian Adriatic coast. Betina is the island, which is also known as the "Island of all the islands" and it is connected with a bridge to the mainland.

- Betina is not yet tourist developed and unique.

CROWN OF KORNATS: By their origin, the manner of formation, the geological structure and the kinds of soil, the relief of the Kornati islands is not essentially different from the other Adriatic islands, particulary the neighbouring ones. However, it is only here that we come upon a type of littoral which does not exist in any other part of the Adriatic. It is the steeply cut coast facing the open sea. This exceptional configuration is referred to as kruna (crown) in the local idiom of the islanders, and as klif (cliff) or strmac (steep, sheer) among scholars and in the media. The crowns were created by a tectonic fault when parts that were exposed to the open sea broke off and disappeared under the sea. Subsequent erosion caused by the wind and the sea currents formed a series of cliffs that protect the archipelago from the open sea.
