This home was beautiful. "Glass House on the Ridge" really describes it perfectly. There are so many windows and outdoor decks, and the views are plentiful and amazing. You walk in and are completely wowed. Pictures really cannot do justice to the panoramic views or the interior of the home.
The kitchen on level 1 had all modern appliances and was supplied with everything you might need to cook. The dining area was roomy (needs a slightly brighter light bulb) and made for a pleasant gathering spot to plan our day. The home theater room on level 3 had really large windows as well, and was very comfortable to read, watch television and nap in. The master bedroom on level 2 was spacious and had its own fireplace and hot tub off the deck. The other bedrooms on levels 1 and 2 were equally as spacious, lovely and each had their own wonderful views, although the level 1 bedroom was lacking its own television.
If I have to voice any complaint, it is only that the television in the living room on level 1 is mounted pretty high and the sofas are pretty low, so watching movies in this room with the family was not as comfortable as it should be. We thought perhaps we could move the club chairs in place of the sofa, but the rules said there would be a financial penalty if we moved any furniture, so we complied and instead did not watch very much tv at night all together in the same room.
Back in the home theatre room, there were tons of books, games, puzzles and a foosball table (the ping pong table and dart board are in the garage). We would definitely put these to great use in the winter or early spring months while enjoying a nice wood fire, but since it was summer, we spent as much time as possible outside on nature walks, hiking, and checking out the discovery center and the village, enjoying the clean air and scenery.
Every night we could hear the wolves at the Alpine Zoo howl at the moon for a short amount of time which only added to the feeling of being in the mountains. None of us have ever heard wolves howl before, so it was a real treat. We made sure to visit the Alpine Zoo before we left to make a donation (for its upcoming move) and to pay homage to all the animals they help to rehabilitate and/or care for.
Overall, we had a really fantastic experience at Glass House on the Ridge and we definitely hope to stay here again. Waking up to those views every morning just can't be beat.
P.S. You would have to move furniture to pull down the murphy bed, so the "don't move the furniture" rule can't be 100% solid. Still, probably safest to check with management before moving anything. Also, not sure where 12 people would sleep here, but I guess it could be done.
