Within the village of Bize-Minervois there are 2 general stores, bakery, butcher, pharmacy, medical centre, 4 restaurants, a cafe-bar, sweet shop, newsagent, post-office and weekly market on a Wednesday morning. The village is very child friendly providing safe swimming and a secure village environment to explore.
The River pool remains refreshing even during high summer as it replenishes constantly as the river moves downstream. The water is regularly checked by the local authorities to ensure safe bathing. During July and August a lifeguard watches over the pool each afternoon 13.30pm - 19.00pm.
The village holds a number of parties during the summer months, most popular is the Olive festival which takes over the village for one weekend in July with stalls filling the streets, bands and parties bringing local colour.

Local attractions: In neighbouring Cabezac, L'Oublio Cooperative, on the road into Bize, produces award winning olives and oils with a variety of local produce on sale in the shop. There are also a further 3 restaurants and a cafe bar which has fresh oysters and mussels on Wednesday and Friday evenings from 5pm.

Vineyards and Olive trees cover the hills, producing an abundance of local wines and olives. The Minervois, St Chinian and Corbiere wine regions are all within close proximity and wine tasting can be arranged with many local domains to sample the produce.

Excellent for walking, cycling, fishing and horse riding, the area has a variable landscape through which the Canal du Midi meanders with a wealth of colourful boats and characters inhabiting its waters.

Narbonne and Beziers both have beautiful historic centres with magnificent cathedrals, museums, excellent markets, shops and restaurants all within 40 minutes drive.

Further afield: Steeped in Cathar history, the area boasts many impressive castles and abbeys. La Cite Carcassonne is within an hour's drive. The winding lanes and alleys are lined with shops and restaurants where you can soak-in the atmosphere in the shadow of the imposing fortifications.

The Mediterranean beaches are less than an hour's drive. Popular resorts at Narbonne Plage and Valras have everything on hand and off the beaten track, more secluded beaches can be found.

The Languedoc National Park, Black Mountains and spectacular Millau Bridge are all within a couple of hours drive.
