“Breathtaking” This rustic cabin was exactly what we were looking for. Being up on the mountain we were out of the hustle and bustle of town, but close enough to venture out if we wanted to. The views from the porch were spectacular, especially as the sun came up, which you can watch from the comfort of the bed through a large window! The inside of the cabin is charming, with all of the comforts home including a full kitchen, bathroom with a stand up shower. The cabin was quiet and despite the owner, George being upstairs we felt alone. George is a great host! He is very knowledgeable about the area and gave us a quick tour of the cabin and best spots for pictures when we arrived. My only regret is we couldn't stay longer! We will be going back. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who is looking for a quiet, secluded, cozy place to escape in the mountains.

“At least as good as advertised” When we arrived, we were met with a friendly smile, a lot of information, a good quick tour of the location, and a bottle of wine with two glasses. We wanted a pet friendly place, and I kind of expected some evidence of other pets - smell, scratches, etc. We found nothing of the kind. Which is great when one of us also has asthma and would be sensitive to a dirty place. For the holiday season, they even had a tree in the corner. The fireplace is great. The great room is huge. And the views were terrific. The bedrooms were more than enough for us. Master bedroom was huge and kids enjoyed the second floor space with two twin beds and a TV. We came to visit the asheville river arts district and to take our kids on the Great Smoky RailRoad Polar Express Tour. Both events were close enough. But we also stopped by the Biltmore and the National GingerBread House Contest at the Grove Park Inn. (Got a nice tip - pay for a morning massage at the Grove Park and get use of their spa facilities all day). I'm a runner, so the high grade gravel road to the house was not to my liking for that. Altitude, steep hill, thin road that was a bit slippery. But I also went just a bit higher than the house to the RV Campground and not only found great hilltop views, but also tons of trails that wound around the hills. These would be terrific for exploring with the kids and dogs on another trip. We will definitely look to this house first for a return trip. I should note that though the house felt very remote, anything we wanted was close by. We had a need for a pharmacy and groceries right away and they were quick to get to. We even found a decent Thai restaurant in a strip mall close by. Other restaurants looked good. But the proximity to downtown and the River arts area was surprising. Had to be only three highway exits away and no traffic.

The bungalow itself was cozy and had everything we needed, it was very hard to leave such a beautiful relaxing place. My only regret was not staying a few more nights! “Hidden Gem” Stumbled upon Reva's place just looking last minute for accommodations for the night, but we found so much more. The property is gorgeous, not too far outside of Asheville but far enough away to see every star in the sky. The animals were a fun touch and the trails around the property were great. She offers a ton of spiritual healing packages that I'd like to come back and take advantage of, the only thing we used was the hot tub that was tucked away on the property and was wonderful to watch the stars at night. Would definitely recommend!

“A Relaxing Mountain Escape for the Whole Family” My family (two sets of parents, myself, my husband and aunt) all stayed here in October for a fall getaway. The home itself was very nice. We loved the high ceilings, the large family room and the long dining room table. There were even some games and puzzles that we enjoyed. The living room had a nice wood burning fire place that kept us warm in the evenings. The was a small TV upstairs, but we couldn't get it to work, so we had to retire to the family room downstairs if there was a desire to watch TV. The quality of the TV in the family room downstairs was wonderful! It was a nice large, HD flatscreen, which was perfect for watching Sunday football. There is another fire place downstairs. We also enjoyed the large outside deck and a dip in the hot tub with a glass of wine, which was a relaxing treat. The house is close a grocery store, which was very conveinent and downtown asheville is only about a 10 minute drive. The place was clean and well appointed.

“A cozy getaway so close to everything!” We went with 3 other families and our young toddlers and the home was super kid friendly. They supplied us with a high chair and pack and play as well as a gate for the stairs. They really thought of everything. The home had all the kitchen supplies that we needed and we spent many evenings just hanging out and grilling relaxing in the house. Very clean and comfortable.amazing views as well!

“Couldn't think of a better place to be outside of Asheville!” This cottage is wonderful! Especially waking up in the morning and seeing a slightly cloudy sky over the mountains. Very soothing for the soul. Ron & Rachel are also very friendly and went out of their way to make the cottage feel as homely as possible. I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay!

“Perfect Peaceful Spot on the River” Jack and Christy were great. We briefly mentioned we were “getting away” for our anniversary and they had champagne and a lovely card waiting for us. We travelled to the area to visit Biltmore, which is a must see. The cabin is about 25 mins. away from Biltmore and is a perfect spot to enjoy peace and quiet and enjoy a little nature. We sat by a fire in the evening, listening to the river rumble and were able to see a deer come to the river as well as ducks and an Osprey glide between the trees. It’s only 5 mins. from I-40 but you feel like you miles and miles away from anyone. Jack and Chrsty, thanks again for your hospitality. Your beautiful cabin and attention to detail throughout made our anniversary one that we’ll remember for a long time. Oh- and the frosty beer mugs in the freezer were much appreciated.

“Wonderful historic home, beautifully decorated and spacious enough to host many guests.” It was a dream come true to stay in a historical home. The property was tastefully decorated and maintained the feel from an earlier era, but yet had all of the modern conveniences we enjoy today. It was a joy to wind up the driveway each day line by the rock wall to the spacious home that awaited us. The nights were cool enough to doze of to sleep each evening by the warmth of the fire place. And the accommodations and rooms were ample enough to have family and friends as overnight guest without feeling squeezed for space. Further, we hosted several more guests for multiple dinners with ease. The spacious home provides inviting places inside and out for parties to dine and recline. The owner of the home Julie has thought of everything. Can't wait to return.

“Cozy cottage with short walk to downtown Asheville” We loved our stay at City Serenity. The cottage was cozy, clean and perfect for adults who wish to enjoy the local Asheville area. The vintage kitchen suited our simple needs and the living room was comfortable with large windows and aged knotty pine paneling. The sofa was perfect for relaxing with a good book and glass of wine after a day of walking/hiking or shopping. Marianne keeps board games available for her guests and we enjoyed playing them with our teenage son. The cottage is a duplex but we were not bothered by any noise from the main house. The cottage is on a VERY quiet street and Marianne offers private parking for her guests, which was nice, because we safely parked our car and mostly walked. Since our return to Ohio, we have recommended City Serenity to several friends who are interested in exploring Asheville.

“Perfect place for a get-away” Every 5 star review is correct. This place is perfect in every way. To give you a sense of how large this place is-it is above an oversize 3 car garage so there is plenty of space. Milan greeted us when we arrived and gave us a carton of half and half for our coffee. Coffee is in the refrigerator. Everything you need is in the apartment. Linens and towels are upscale. Milan and John were so friendly we felt like we had been lifelong friends. We would definitely recommend this to anyone going to Asheville and will definitely consider for another trip to Asheville.

“Convenient location & responsive owners” The rental was in a delightful, quiet neighborhood & convenient to Parkway, shops & downtown Asheville. The owners were easy to work with & very responsive. Some of the furniture was worn & the landscaping not well maintained. My dog and I thoroughly enjoyed the large, screened patio & numerous shade trees keeping it comfortably cool.

“Cozy Cottage” We stayed at the lovely Red Gate Cottage in November for 4 days. It was perfect for 6 girlfriends on a get away. It has everything you could possibly need and the grocery is just down the road. We were unable to utilize the fire pit because of the burning ban but the fireplace was on while we were there and it just made it all the more cozy. There is so much to do in the Asheville area. We spent 3 days visiting the Biltmore during their Christmas event which was money well spent, but there is so much more to do there and the Red Gate Cottage is central to it all. Georgia was so thoughtful with the wine, cookies and leaving the lights on for our after dark arrival. The only downfall is that there are not mountain views but everything else is absolutely perfect. We'll look forward to staying here again in a heartbeat!

About Asheville

Asheville, NC has earned the reputation as one of America's most cultured and richly distinctive cities on the East Coast. There are few places in the world that possess as much diversity, history, and natural beauty as this area does. Asheville offers an endless range of activities with mountain biking and hiking trails, fishing hot spots, and whitewater rafting right outside your back door. Craving historical architecture and timeless works of art? Tour the Art Deco City Hall and the Asheville Art Museum, located in the heart of downtown. Visitors can also spend a day shopping and dining, or enjoying the links at one of the city's beautiful golf courses amidst a Smokey Mountain backdrop. Cultural and outdoor adventures can be pursued by day, and by night, while entertainment can be found in the numerous fine theaters, music venues, and local bars.

Some of the sights you will definitely want to see include:

  • The Biltmore House: Known for its world-class architecture, Asheville is home to this George Vanderbilt 250-room estate, which is also renowned for being America's largest home.
  • Smokey Mountains Railroad: Step onto this train and travel through rivers, mountain tunnels, and hills.
  • The Diana Wortham Theatre: This venue showcases the best of live dance, theater, and musical performances around. It is situated at the center of Asheville's downtown, surrounded by an abundance of great restaurants, galleries, and museums.
  • Mount Mitchell: If breathtaking vistas are what you are after, look no further. The spectacular views atop this mountain peak, which is the highest one in the Eastern United States, are just 15 minutes away from Asheville.
  • Haunted Asheville: Created by the author of Haunted Asheville, Joshua P. Warren, these ghost tours of the area are a very popular attraction. They feature secrets of the town's history, the Brown Mountain Lights, and some of Asheville's most ominous apparitions.
  • Botanical Gardens at Asheville: A beautiful sight to behold for nature lovers wanting to see some native plants in their natural environment. The trail is a relaxing setting perfect for a leisurely stroll among the exquisite surroundings.

The Appalachian Mountains become your backyard while staying in your very own vacation rental. Watch the early morning sun hit the hills of Asheville from the privacy of your own cabin rental or condo. As the most spacious, secluded and genuine lodging option in the area, vacation rentals in Asheville provide a personal experience you simply won't find in Asheville camping. Moonlit Chalet at the Preservation Stay with Amazing Views
Spectacular views!

Overall, we had a wonderful time at the moonlit chalet. The property is very quiet, and the views are spectacular. We enjoyed watching the fireflies while sitting on the porch each evening. The home was very clean aside from one issue (which I will go into more detail about), and we loved the touches of sunflowers, s’mores kit and egg/fruit/veggie items left in the fridge. We also appreciated that Julie allowed us to check in early, since we were coming directly from another property in the area (so we didn’t have to kill time between check-in/check-out with a young child.) we didn’t have any issues with the driveway (but we drive a large SUV). About an hour after check in we noticed a putrid liquid leaking into the laundry room from the ceiling above (presumable from the upstairs toilet, which we hadn’t used yet). We alerted the owner right away, and she arranged for someone come to the property the following morning at 9am to address the issue. It was fixed at that point. We understand that sometimes things happen. This was all fine except that we couldn’t use the upstairs toilet our first night. This was problematic as we had to make several trips down the stairs half asleep, and with our elementary aged child, so we could use the restroom during the night. Also, At 8:45pm our first night (as we wanted to put our 7 year old child to sleep) we discovered that the sheets in both beds were covered in dog hair. We were not thrilled about this. We were forced to either sleep in the beds as is, or wash the sheets. We chose To strip the bed and wash the sheets. This prolonged our sons bedtime until 11pm because of wash/dry time on the bedding. We texted the owner about this, and she didn’t respond. We were disappointed as we felt this warranted a response. As I said, overall, we had a great stay!see more
