“Excellent stay at low brow barn” Fabulous accommodation, beautifully furnished with great facilities. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great location for travelling round the lakes. Only very slight downside, very close to main road so could be a little noisy at times. But would definitely stay here again as such a lovely house.

“lovely comfortable cottage great location” we really enjoyed our time at woodbine cottage.It is centrally located, two minutes to the nearest pub! it is cosy especially with the log burner going in winter.The cottage has modern decoration and is comfortable. I would definately book again, the sykes agents was friendly and helpful.The only down side was the parking, it was a gamble whether there was space available by the cottage and ambleside has car parks but they can be expensive.Still that said, will still go back again and again.great walking and beautiful countryside any season.

“Perfect” We booked at short notice and were delighted with the property. It was absolutely perfect and so spacious. Beautifully decorated bedrooms, huge kitchen and lounge, our own parking space too! Would highly recommend Kelsick Height as it's in an ideal location and has everything you could hope for from self catering accommodation.

“Great value stay” Stayed at Heather Cottage for 4 days leading upto New Year 2014, great location really couldn't have asked for better, the actual cottage was clean, tidy and well presented, the only downside was unable to understand storage heating system plus no sky tv, however overal had a great time.

“A very calm, relaxing and peaceful apartment in a fabulous locat” We stayed at Tom Heights from the 14-17 Feb for a long weekend. We loved our stay here and if we were to visit ambleside again we would definitely check to see if this apartment was available! It is a very cosy apartment with everything you could possibly need included. It is in a great location, right in the centre of town with plenty to see and do around you! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and thank you for the bottle of wine!!!

“everything you could want on your doorstep” Loughrigg View is a spacious, stylish, contemporary, warm apartment slap bang in the heart of ambleside. Why not try Thai, Italian, Indian or traditional pub fayre all within a minutes walk. Better still combine your meal with a trip to the little cinema. You really don't need your car - walks to Troutbeck, Langdale, Grasmere and several classic fells can all be done from the door or you could take the boat trip around the lake. We've stayed at dozens of locations around the lakes but provided you don't mind a little early morning traffic noise and can manage the access stairs, this place has got so much going for it.

“perfect location, perfect accommodation” This is a perfect cottage for two. It is surprisingly spacious, with a very well appointed kitchen, comfortable seating, exceptionally large bathroom with plenty of hot water. It is spotlessly clean. The added bonus is the parking space and proximity to ambleside. Wifi would have been the icing on the cake but there were plenty of wifi cafes and pubs in ambleside. The booking procedure and key arrangements were straight forward. We loved it and will be going back later this year

“Gorgeous cottage with in fantastic location” My husband and I and our three young sons had a lovely break at Barneys cottage. The accommodation is beautifully furnished and equipped with everything you could possibly need. It's central location in gorgeous ambleside was also a bonus. I really can't recommend it enough we had a fantastic holiday and look forward to returning.

About Ambleside
With a rich heritage in literature and fine arts, a wide range of shopping and dining options and extremely friendly locals, the rural British town of Ambleside has it all! Sample the art galleries along Main Street including the Beatrix Potter Gallery, author of Peter Rabbit, or, take advantage of the shopping options in the villages within Ambleside including Hawkshead and Elterwater.
Be sure to also make time for some of these must-see outdoor destinations and historical attractions in the area:
- Lake Windermere: Located one mile north of town, this lake offers a range of boating and water sports options.
- Jenkins Crag: Climb 730 feet up to the top for wonderful views of the village and surrounding hills.
- Stagshaw Garden: Nestled on a steep hillside, this garden is a particularly beautiful place in warmer months to see the azaleas and camellias in full bloom.
- Stock Ghyll Force: This 70 foot waterfall was used to power several mills in the area when Ambleside was an industrial haven.
- Rydal Mount: The home of Williams Wordsworth for the last 35 years of his life, this historical site has changed little since it was last occupied in the mid 19th century.
- Skelghyll Woods: The woods offer a number of hiking options and planned out walking trails.

No matter when you decide to visit, there will likely be major events and festivals in and around Ambleside to take part in such as the Lake Artists Society Summer Exhibition.
There is a lot to do in Ambleside alone, but many visitors also like to take day trips to sample the amazing attractions that the Cumbria region has to offer.
