“Ultimate Vacation Relaxation Opportunity” I really hate to say too much; we will have to compete with all of you for our next stay. This is a great spot, with a fabulous house, that has the feel that you are way off the beaten path, even though you are only 2 miles from the highway, and maybe 6 miles from good restaurants and groceries. We were lucky with weather for our late January stay; I understand sometimes the rains can take over. The surf is high, and beautiful when the winds come straight in, but we also had several days where things calmed down, and we could swim and snorkle, which you must be cautious about, especially in the winter. We started every morning with a beach walk - only a few other folks around. We stopped looking for other beaches after just a couple days, wondering why go anywhere else. We hit the beach early, and some of the shoreline is in shade from overhanging trees. There are reefs along both edges that do break up the surf, so there are opportunities to get a bit wet no matter what. Hiking trails start from the beach, and we tried some, but not all. They do lead to some great views. We could see whales in the ocean from our deck, and if you hiked to the points, you were even closer. There are 25 or 30 houses in the neighborhood around you, although you can't tell that from the house. It appears to be the best place on this Bay; but if it isn't, you won't complain. Bring your GPS for your car, and put this house as your "HOME", to help get back after dark.

“spoiled” my husband and I had a GREAT time here, the house was beautiful and comfortable. The beach was great for walks and photos. We watched whales from the beautiful lanai. The beds, sheets and towels were very nice quality. This Island is spectacular, so much to see and do and having. a great place to go back to after a long day of sightseeing made it even more special. We spent the remainder of our vacation on the big island and we were very disappointed and actually tried to re-rent this house but it was booked.....this is where spoiled comes into play. Can't wait to go back and do plan on renting this beautiful house again. Thanks for a most memorable vacation!!!

“Wonderful house” Garden Island Properties generously helped us find a very last minute vacation rental. We really enjoyed our stay at the Hibiscus Hula, even with the rain :) It's a really great house! We appreciated the character of the house, the cleanliness, the views, the hot tub, the location, the quiet, etc. We are grateful to have found an affordable, wonderful vacation house !

“Paradise!” My better half and I spent an amazing week at Hale Makai. The house is beautiful with every amenity we could have asked for including a full kitchen stocked with everything any cook would ever require, washer/dryer, boogie boards, snorkel gear, chairs, umbrella, etc. But the finest amenity is the best and easiest beach access we've ever experienced. In fact, the beach access is so easy at Hale Makai, that I would roll out of bed every morning (in my boxers), walk out the back door, and in less then a minute my feet would be in the refreshing water of anahola Bay. So comfortable there that I doubt I'll ever be able to do that again anywhere else. I highly recommend Hale Makai and can't wait to return.

About Anahola
With beautiful beaches, friendly locals, and a wide range of sporting and cultural activities, the charming Hawaiian town of Anahola has it all! You can find unique art galleries and some of the best authentic Hawaiian cuisine on the island on Main Street, while outdoor activities and nightlife options are spread across town.
There's more than enough to do here to fill a vacation itinerary, but here are just a few of the must-see destinations in the area:
- Go Snuba Diving: Try out this sport that is similar to scuba diving, except that the tank floats above you instead of on your back.
- Kauai International Theatre: Enjoy the wide range of live musical and theatrical performances featuring some of the best actors and performers on the island.

No matter when you decide to visit Anahola, there will likely be events and festivals to take part in both in and around the area. Cheer on the hundreds of racers competing in the international competition known as the Kauai World Challenge in May, watch the top Hawaiian slack key guitar artists perform during the Hawaiian Slack Key Festival in November, or sample the handcrafted goods from top Hawaiian designers during the Garden Isle Artisan Fair in March.
Rather than stay in a hotel, consider booking one of the many vacation rentals available in the Anahola area. Rent a high-end condo with luxury amenities that's just steps from the beach, or opt for a property that puts you closer to the cultural attractions and authentic local cuisine that can be found in town.
The island of Kauai is small enough that you can reach anywhere on the island within 90 minutes by car. If you have some extra time to explore the area, be sure to visit the array of art galleries in Hanapepe, the quaint village of Kilauea, or the secluded Lumahai Beach.
