“Great RRV Getaway -- Quiet & Remote, yet Conveniently Located to” We rented this updated house for Thanksgiving. We were a party of 6: grandparents, adult children & 2 grandchildren. We stayed in the downstairs, and the kids and grandkids stayed in the upstairs 2 BR with one large bathroom (with jacuzzi tub, shower stall & sauna) and a separate 1/2 bath. The house itself has one large living & kitchen area, with an eating bar, upstairs, with a second living area and kitchenette downstairs, which has an additional exterior door). We did not realize that the upstairs & downstairs aren't connected "inside"-you have to use the outside stairs to go from one area to the other. It's not a big deal and it provided a bit of separation from the noise and commotion of the kiddos.Overall, the house updated: updates in the kitchen, bathrooms, downstairs, central heat, Wifi, etc.Yet very comfortable and quaint with electric fireplaces (no wood burning),views of the redwoods from every window & large outdoor decks. The decks wrap around the house and provide privacy if you choose to use the hot tub or sit outside and enjoy the porch views of the trees & the RR. With latching gates at the top of the stairs, it was safe for the 3 yr old.The kitchen is a bit tight, but it is fully equipped with a nice frig, new gas range, new dishwasher. We cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner(always a challenge in someone else's kitchen),there were plenty of dishes, utensils, service wear, pots, pans, etc. The upstairs:full bath and half bath are adjacent to the living area. The upstairs beds are very comfy, with nice furniture and finishing. The sheets and towels are all very new and fluffy. The primary bathroom is huge, with a large Jacuzzi and the separate shower. The bathroom has a zen vibe-very relaxing. The half-bath is convenient with a crowd. We walked down the steps to the river, enjoyed the scenic fall views of the RR.Fun!The owner was delightful to work with & gave us plenty of info, good directions.Very helpful!

“Wonderful experience” Although our hosts were not present on the property--they live in the main house nearby--this cabin was perfect for a getaway near the Mendocino Coast. There are beautiful gardens, less fog than on the coast, and total tranquility. It is and a well-appointed rental with living room, bedroom, and kitchenette. We highly recommend it.

“Perfect!” We just returned from our annual trip to ashland, mainly for OSF. After previously staying in B&B;'s we chose to find a rental house for this week. I did a bunch of research and what struck us about the Terra Cottage Inn was the outdoor kitchen. Since my wife I like to cook, we though this would be the place. I will say this is one place where the pictures do not do the property justice. First, the outdoor kitchen: it is the best! The grill, the stove, the sink, the refrigerator, the incredible clay pottery that one of the proprietors (Elizabeth) and the table and benches that the other proprietor (Mark) made make it a perfect spot. We took advantage of this spot to have several dinners and with the lounge chairs, it is perfect for morning coffee. It should be noted that the Terra Cottage Inn is part of a beautiful property that includes one other rental house and the owners house. Besides the outdoor kitchen, there is a Koi pond, a garden (from which you can pick anything from), a hammock, and outdoor shower (if you want to use it) and Elizabeth's Pottery Studio and Mark's art Studios. The have decorated the whole property with great lights and artistic touches everywhere. Terra Cottage Inn is in it's own building up a flight stairs(nothing but storage down below). It is not large, but perfect for a vacation rental. During our visit the temps in ashland were above 100 degrees, but the air conditioning kept is nice and cool. The kitchen is well stocked and the living room furniture is very comfortable. The linens in the bedroom are great and the queen bed is comfortable. They also provide great bathrobes! There is a second bedroom with two twin beds (which we didn't need to use). Bathroom has good water pressure and they provided almost everything you could need (shampoo, soap. lotion etc...). The inside space is not huge, but very comfortable, when you add in all the magical outdoor areas this is an a+ space and we will be back every year.

“Fabulous place to stay!” We recently stayed in this cottage for 3 nights and we really enjoyed ourselves. The short walk to the plaza and theaters was ideal, but we were most impressed by how clean and well-maintained the cottage was. The cottage is on the property of the Hersey House Bed and Breakfast Inn and the hosts were very welcoming, and they deliver a morning continental breakfast tray. We especially liked the warm raspberry crumble with sweet cream and it was nice because we enjoyed 3 breakfast trays and each morning we were served something different. We really like the cottage and it was super easy with our kids because there were two bedrooms and it was handy to have the kitchen. We will definitely be back!

“Highly recommend this lovely cottage!” We highly recommend this outstanding, lovely cottage. Everything was so well prepared, it was very clean and the hosts are just the best in the world. You can come with any question they will find an answer. We stayed there for 5 weeks and really enjoyed our time. It is also I would say partially wheelchair accessible, however, if you are a young and sportive paraplegic there is not a problem at all. We worked it out very well. It is just the perfect place if you are spending time in the San Francisco Bay area. We definitely will be back and we will recommend it to all our friends and family.
