“WOW” That's all I could say as soon as we walked in the front door - "Wow." What a stunning home, the photos simply don't do it justice. Casa de Angel is so spacious and grand, it felt absolutely decadent that my husband and I had the entire place to ourselves! The decor is beautiful, you can tell that each piece was carefully and lovingly chosen by the owners - they did an amazing job of showcasing the gorgeous textiles and folk art produced in this region of Mexico. And everything you could possibly need for a comfortable, luxurious stay is provided for you. Daniel was so sweet and checked in on us throughout our stay to make sure we needed for nothing, and his brother Eric gave us a ride to and from the airport, making it very easy and convenient for us, travel-wise. We fell into the perfect routine almost immediately upon arriving - into town for breakfast in the morning and shopping/exploring the city until early afternoon. Then we'd head back up to the casa where my husband would relax and read in the cool indoors or out on the shaded back patio, and I would soak up the gorgeous Mexican sun on the HUGE rooftop terrace. After siesta time we'd head back down the hill into town for dinner and more walking around the town before heading back up to the house to catch the incredible technicolor sunsets. Absolutely perfect. This was one of the most relaxing, rejuvenating vacations I've ever been on - I came back completely recharged and head over heels in love with San Miguel! And finally, I have to mention, the shopping is outstanding here - my advice is to pack light because you will want plenty of room for packing up all the treasures you'll acquire during your stay! Definitely check out Ave Maria at Relox 26 - super fun store, lots of clothing, artwork, and artesania items with a kitschy, modern, stylized twist. Love love love - my only regret is that I didn't find this place earlier and buy more. I guess I'll just have to come back... :) Overall, we loved our time in San Miguel and the casa was the perfect home base for all our adventures. Words can't describe how magical the city is, how warm and friendly the people are, and how gorgeous Casa de Angel is. We're already planning our next stay!
