“Loved the place!” It was a perfect place for me and boyfriend to spend the weekend! A neat little hot tub tucked in overlooking the back yard that we stayed put in! Joe, the owner was simply amazing extending our stay and always available if we needed anything over the phone. Highly recommend this place- it's pretty close by to all the attractions and yet nestled in a remote community.

Brooklyn's Favorite Victorian Brownstone w/Garden

“Wonderful place and good location” This brownstone is a classic design - long and narrow footprint with a total of 4 floors plus basement. The unit is well kept up even though it has to be decades old. We visited over the Xmas holidays and the radiator/boiler system kept the unit warm on the coldest days. The stairs to each floor are a bit narrower than today's standards but when this unit was constructed, I'm sure that was normal. Lots of varnished wood gave the place a pretty homey feel. We had plenty of space for 5 adults to sleep, relax and hang out. This kitchen is smaller than today's huge rooms we see so keep that in mind. However, it appears the kitchen has been updated with nice appliances so you should be able to cook about anything. We did not use it but the backyard looks like it would be a nice spot to hang out in warmer weather. The closest subway stop is about 1/4 mile away and we used it multiple times per day. There is an excellent, large, modern grocery store about 1/3 a mil away. The unit even has a large roller-style wire basket that you can take when you go grocery shopping; make sure you take it or you will be sorry. The neighborhood looks safe enough; we felt quite at ease walking late at night. It was pretty quiet (compared to Manhattan at least). However, you do get the random trucks and sirens making noise at all hours. Still, it's NYC and should be expected. This place has a lot of charm. It's definitely "old school" but definitely not decrepit. This was a really fun place to stay and the area of town was pretty subdued. Still, we could get into Manhattan in pretty short order. A tenant on the 4th floor greeted us upon our arrival and we kept in contact during our stay. So, if there is an immediate need for assistance, you should have no worries. This is a big plus if you are from out of town.

“Definitely A Place We Would Like To Come Back To.” The Fox Den is located beautifully in the Catkills mountains with easy access to many great activities such as hiking, tubing, zip lining, and dining out. However the best was the utter pleasure of being in this lovely, comfortable, well designed house: sitting on the porch and reading good books, playing the many board games the house provides, watching our teenagers playing soccer, volleyball, tennis, and observing the endless starry nights.

“One of a kind, secluded, comfortable, & friendly.” We had the best weekend here in this beautiful spacious house. The huge windows all around the living area give such a peaceful feeling looking at the forst or the stream in the backyard. We enjoyed family time, pony rides and a local zoo just 5 min away. we were all able to enjoy our time together and separately thanks to the large livingroom and nice basement . We found the house very clean and with everything we needed in it.

“Peaceful Getaway” A group of childhood friends, our spouses, and my young child just completed a visit to this lovely cottage. We had a wonderful time in the peaceful and beautiful Catskills -- hiked at Minnewaska State park, biked on the O&W; Rail Trail, and cooked, played games, and roasted marshmallows at the house. The cottage is very well-appointed with plenty of comfortable space to relax, eat, and sleep. I hope we'll have a chance to return.

“Perfect place!” Our stay was wonderful! Location of the apartment could not be better. 5-8 minutes to Manhattan ( via subway nr L ), subway station just arround the corner. Neighborhood fantastic, minutes to Bedford av with many bars, pubs and restaurants. Very close to apartment 3 or 4 great bars, even with live music. Bagelsmith for breakfast 300 m from apartment. Unfortunetetly very smal bathroom - it was no problem for us, but if someone has claustrophobia... :) If You drink much alkohol, remember that floor in the kitchen goes down a little bit - so in the morning that is floor, no side effect of great party :) Exellent vegan restaurant just across the street - actually I do not like imitation of chicken or eggs, but food is tasty, they have plenty of carrot juice and lots of clients. If I need to use one word for that apartment - perfect.

“Perhaps the most relaxing vacation I've ever had” The Sigels' cottage was absolutely perfect for us. My husband and I were looking for a nice quiet 4-night stay while our 7-yr-old twins visited with their grandparents. When we arrived everything looked just as in the pictures. The room is sunny, but stays nice and cool too (we were there in august). There is an overhead fan but we didn't even need it. The Sigels made us feel very much at home, but they also seemed to know that we were not looking for a chatty B&B; experience. There are plenty of little touches like a bottle of wine waiting for us, tea, sugar, and some other basics in the kitchenette. A hair dryer, eye shade in the bedside table, etc. But nothing seemed overly fussy-- they are naturally good hosts. The pool was absolutely perfect. Big enough to swim laps, but small enough to be a nice temperature. We spent one whole morning just floating in the pool. The view from the pool is stunning. I am sure there are some amazing hikes around (I had broken my tailbone so hiking will have to wait for next year). Great Barrington is a wonderful town too, so if you're wondering where to stay in the Berkshires, then you would be wise to choose GB. It's not huge, but we never really left town. The walkable part of town has great diners, a cool little coffee shop, a movie theatre, used book store, and great music and food at the Gypsy Joynt (a member of the family that owns it-- Jordan Weller-- put out the best CD I've heard in a long time!) On our last night there the Sigels suggested we go to the Guthrie Center for an open mic where we heard more great music. I can't say enough about the Seigel's cottage. We can't wait to go back next summer.

“Dream Getaway” Our stay here was a magnificent treat. The house is stunningly beautiful and off the beaten path, the perfect combination of privacy with the best beaches on the island just a short drive or bike ride away. The quiet and calm of the house is beyond relaxing, if you are looking for a place to get away from the city or to find peace and calm, this is ideal, even the quality of the air is soothing. The house has a huge, beautiful outdoor deck, surrounded by a nature reserve, where we were able to spend afternoons reading and sunbathing, and the kitchen is very large and fully stocked and we had some wonderful, cozy evenings at home, cooking dinner and playing board games. It was terribly difficult to have to leave after only a few days, if we were able to we would spend a week here at least once every season! This is a truly unique and special place to spend a vacation.
