Modern style ocean front home Gulf of St Lawrence

Inverness house

2 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 7

“the perfect get-away from loud and busy lives to take a break” I spent there just a couple of days three years ago but I was immediately in love with this place and came home feeling like I had been on a long-term vacation. Coming from a hectic life near Manhattan, I truly enjoyed being far away, embraced by open views to the gorgeous bay and nothing else but peace and quiet and nature. The house is modern, wide and open but yet warm and cozy in style. Waking up in the morning and seeing the glistening bay from your bed, taking a walk on the beach (refreshingly empty compared to NJ beaches!), having a drink in the afternoon on the porch while relaxing and admiring the sun set, eating lobsters in town, just wonderful. I am only sorry the golf course was not yet there; however, that's just another reason for me to come back.

Old Miller Trout Farm Guest House--Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia

Margaree Forks house

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Awesome fishing, relaxation - just paradise” Because she had done so well in a class project, I had promised my daughter an 'end of summer' trip to the Bell Museum in Baddeck. Friends recommended the Old Miller Trout Farm to us. I was reluctant to book because the property is not on the ocean and not in Baddeck, However we followed our friends recommendation. We quickly discovered that everything on the Island is a scenic drive from somewhere...the ocean beaches in Margaree are all within a short drive, Baddeck is close, the "Crafters Loop" on the Cabot Trail that the owners directed us to was wonderful, the show at the Barn, (also recommended by the owners), was fantastic, the meal we had at Big Intervale was superb...our only disappointment was that there were no whales seen on our Whale Watching trip out of Pleasant Bay, (no charge!). This may have been because we were there a day or so after a hurricane had largely missed the Island although it did hit Quebec and New Brunswick. We also ended up fishing for trout at the farm and our hosts even froze some for us to take home when we left! All in all a wonderful, quiet place to stay and relax but certainly close to anything one would want to go to on the island. We will return, but next time will have more time!!!

Charming Cape Breton Artist Retreat
Great, quiet (winter) cottage

I've stayed at this cottage two years in a row in the winter for a weekend with my girlfriend. Even though it was freezing outside all weekend, we had a great time relaxing together at the cottage. The fireplace is great, the beds are comfortable, and the claw foot bathtub is a personal favourite. There's even a piano for the more musically inclined.see more
Modern style ocean front home Gulf of St Lawrence
calm, spacious, great views

New, modern, spacious house with large front& back decks and bedroom terrasses. Luxurious living in summer & winter(full floor heating) We liked the luminous atmosphere with tasty furnishing spending hours on the large front deck enjoying the grat ocean views and sunsets. Great for kids of any age: zip-line, treehouse a.m.m. No next door restaurant but perfect for self catering in the fully equipped kitchen. Truly exeptional golfcourse 10 min. away. Last 3 km are gravelroad but access with a ordinary 2 wheel drive car is no problem. We will definitly be back.see more
