A Hiada-way

Kasilof apartment

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“Amazing property on the Kasilof river !” There are places that you would like to return to year after year. This is one of these places. Carole has a first class property right on the Kasilof river. I used the apartment as my home base since it is so close and centrally located to all the places that I love to spend time at. Homer, Kenai, Clam Gulch and many more. We felt that when we came back from a long day of fishing , clam digging, or sightseeing that we were coming home. I can still remember the taste of the fresh salmon , halibut or other foods that we cooked on the huge deck at the apartment after a successful day of fishing. And some days just staying in relaxing and unplugging with a good book or watching the boats catching salmon as they drift by. I wish that I can make a return trip to the Hiada-way on the river very soon. Carole thank you for all the cherished memories and making your property feel like "home". That is something that hotels just don't do. Colt

A Cabin by the Pond

Soldotna studio

Studio / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“A Great Place To Stay” Having stayed in a lot of lodging in alaska Soldotna area in the past 15 years I would have to say that a cabin by the pond was the most comfortable.Alaska is a great place to visit fish and explore. To enjoy the true alaska experience you need to pace yourself. You will need a week minimum. If you are a keen fisherman by all means do a one day king, halibut and a fly out silver and that's it.Take a break between days because it will exhaust you.Check the tides for clamming great fun day out.Fish from the beach on Whiskey Gulch and anchor point only one hour south from Soldotna.Use herring and salmon belly for bait you would be surprised what you can catch. Best public fishing areas I would have to say head back over the bridge and up towards Murphys lane.(Go a little above that to the public area)Nice quite spot up there great silver red and monster rainbow(on salmon eges)Great Silver fishing down at Cunningham Park(need a good 5-6oz weight to hold you in the current)If you want to catch fish in alaska in the public areas. Be on the water at 6.30am and you will be done by 9.00am or 9.00 pm to 12.00 midnight and have a sleep in the morning.Hey its your vacation but from 9am to 9pm things can get a little too busy on the river for me.Thats why I will head south for beach fishing or north on the Russian River or a day trip to Seward or Homer. Flight discounts probably the best deal is with alaska airlines.Get the visa signature card and a partner can fly for $100.Split the cost hey for under $500 your in business.Car rental.I use aBC motor homes 3 mins from anchorage airport. They pick you up and a lot cheaper than airport prices. Before you go check out the "Alaska Outdoor Journal" website for real time up dates on fishing updates regulations..But above all if you stay at "A Cabin By the Pond" you are right in the middle of it all.Great place to stay highly recommend it. Have fun all the best Murph

Coal Creek Cabins.....Cabin rental in Alaska's quiet wilderness setting
This was the perfect setting for our alaska trip

We celebrated my brothers 50th with a fishing trip to alaska. The accommodations were perfect. It comfortably accommodated 5 of us (with a couch). The home was conveniently located near Kenai and Soldotna and it was a short drive to Homer for a day of fishing. Nancy was so hospitable and the accommodations had the staple items we needed to cook up our catch of the day. We were able to hang out and catch up with old friends under 1 roof when the weather turned bad on us for half the day. There were board games (provided), TV/cable and popped in a DVD to watch a movie as we waited for the weather to clear. I am looking forward to returning with my wife and kids for some family time with a beautiful wilderness backdrop. If your are considering making the trip, make sure you fit in a day of fishing with Mike (Mann's Charters) for a day of fishing with a "world class" guide! In retrospect I wish I would have known about these accommodations when I brought my dad up last year for a father/son trip. Whatever the occasion this peaceful backdrop and friendly folks are sure to please.see more

Awesome Experience

We stayed at this rental for a few months while my husband was working in Soldotna. Before we even arrived, Carol the owner was so helpful and accomodating. She had great information on fishing, clamming, shopping and eating out. This rental was perfect for the two of us and the location was great since we were able to enjoy Soldotna, Homer and Kenai. Since her place is right on the Kasilof River we were able to watch the break up going down the river, fish jumping and fishermen catching salmon right off the deck. We had the opportunity to see moose and baby moose right off the upstairs deck. AMAZING! The apartment is furnished with everything you need and nicely decorated but if there is something you need Carol will get it for you or direct you where to get it. The bed was very comfortable and the apartment is clean and up to date. The parking at the property was big and easy to move our 2 trucks around in. The property also has amazing views of the Mountains and plenty of bird watching also. It was an experience we will never forget. And we plan on going back this next year. Carol, the owner, always checked to make sure we were happy and that we had everything we needed.see more
