“Wonderful Vacation! Amazing home” What a beautiful home and a lovely neighborhood. I highly recommend hiring a car, there is a lot to see and do locally. We went into the town several times and enjoyed the local restaurants and shops. The highlight of our trip was renting a small boat with local fisherman for the day - he took us to Coronado Island where we snorkeled, beachcombed and sunbathed. A really wonderful experience that I highly recommend. The Loreto Bay community is very friendly, although it is an older crowd - 55+ but we had a fun time, being invited to several impromptu happy hours at local homes and enjoying an open mic night at the local wine bar!! A really wonderful vacation - I will be back again for sure!

About Loreto

Perched on the wild, sage brush-strewn coast of Baja California, the town of Loreto beckons visitors with its pristine Pacific shores and rugged natural beauty. There are endless fun and exciting things to do here on the beach, along the busy sides streets of the downtown area, and along the winding inland trails. Come here for an outdoor adventure, a relaxing escape, or a chance to enjoy the sun and sand and reconnect with loved ones. The best way to experience Loreto is with a stay vacation rental of your own. A condo or villa just a few steps away from the beach can be the perfect place to store your beach gear and outdoor equipment and relax in style.

Wake up in your villa and enjoy a quiet breakfast on your private balcony. Spend your mornings on a Loreto golf course or in a luxury spa. Then hit the beach for Loreto fishing, swimming, snorkeling, or world-class Loreto diving. Explore the coast, visit historic sites and local museums, or head out to sea on a sailing adventure. At the end of the day, experience Loreto's award winning seafood restaurants and energetic nightlife, or come home to your vacation rental and host dinner and a campfire on the beach for your family and friends.

Here are a few additional suggestions of things to do in the area:

  • Rent a sea kayak: Loreto kayaking outfitters can set you up with a kayak and an experienced guide who can lead you on a marine eco-tour along the coast.
  • Go deep sea fishing: Loreto fishing excursions leave every day from the harbor and take experienced fishermen and beginners into the deep waters of the Pacific for dorado, sailfish, and yellowtail.
  • Go on a whale watching tour: Between the months of January and March, Loreto whale watching trips can lead visitors to encounters with legendary blue whales who migrate past this area.
  • Go sailing and diving in Loreto Bay National Marine Park: For the best Loreto diving experience, spend the afternoon in this marine park surrounded by colorful fish and bottlenose dolphins.
  • Go horseback riding: Horseback riding stables around the Loreto area offer guided trail rides, one on one lessons, or the chance to gallop along the beach as the sun sets over the Pacific.
  • Go strolling and people watching along Malecon Avenue: This popular surfside gathering spot is a great place to shop, dine, or reconnect over a drink at a local cafe.

You'll never run out of things to explore in the outdoor beauty of Loreto, no matter what time of year you plan your visit. When you finally arrive, unpack your things in your home away from home, plan your day's adventures, and start making fun vacation memories.

Luxurious Loreto Bay, Location, Location, Location
Loreto Bay is a little sliver of paradise and Casa Illuminata was right in the center!

We had a wonderful stay in Loreto Bay -- traveled with a 4 1/2 and 13 year old and it couldn't have been easier. The house is really within a 3 min walk to the beach, to several pools and the community center. The house itself is great with a big indoor patio and spacious rooms. Very comfortable. We rented a car and went into town everyday for ice-cream and groceries. The town is really close and easy to get around. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. Felicia provided tons of information before our departure so we were able to organize our stay before leaving. The contact once in Loreto was also really helpful. The only thing I would tell people that I hadn't realized is that the master bedroom is upstairs with an access from the interior patio so if you are traveling with small children you might want to bring the monitor as you won't hear them from the bedroom. (our 13 year old was our monitor). Honestly, a great trip -- great location, great house and very friendly people. We will be back!see more
