“Wonderful Vacation! Amazing home” What a beautiful home and a lovely neighborhood. I highly recommend hiring a car, there is a lot to see and do locally. We went into the town several times and enjoyed the local restaurants and shops. The highlight of our trip was renting a small boat with local fisherman for the day - he took us to Coronado Island where we snorkeled, beachcombed and sunbathed. A really wonderful experience that I highly recommend. The Loreto Bay community is very friendly, although it is an older crowd - 55+ but we had a fun time, being invited to several impromptu happy hours at local homes and enjoying an open mic night at the local wine bar!! A really wonderful vacation - I will be back again for sure!

“Probably the most relaxed vacation in 20 years” Steve and anita's casa was more that we expected, from the friendly service at the grocery store to the outstanding help we received from artura ( property manager ) There was always someone there to ask any questions we may have had.. Tom and I bought a month membership at the Loreto Golf and Country Club where we also found exceptional service. We took full advantage of the unlimited golf where there was always a great breeze off of the sea of cortez, and plenty of cold beer. We rented a car from ace in San jose del cabo and drove, it took us 7 hours as we took our time, not being familiar with the roads. ( 6 hours back ) Watch out for cows. Omg Made many a trip into Loreto, quaint little village with great food, went to Brunos on the main street a couple of times for lunch ( great pizza ) and icy draught beer. So with that being said, Thank you Steve and anita for providing us with great memories and tip top service. Tom and Jackie from Canada

“Great way to spend New Years!” We had a wonderful Loreto experience from the setting of Vi and arnie's home. The sunrises, breakfast on the beach, people, wide variety of restaurants, trip to Coronado Island, the warmth, coffee on the patio, relaxing and reading in the sun, card games at the table...the list goes on. What a perfectly relaxing vacation for us and our friends, It lived up to all of our expectations. We don't have too many experiences with Mexico but we do know that Loreto and the Loreto Beach Oasis are now near and dear to our hearts. The neighbors were friendly and helpful. We received many good tips for great restaurants from neighbors as well as from Vi and arnie. The walk into town was about 15 minutes but very doable. Most evenings after dark, we took a taxi home and the cost was very reasonable. We would definitely choose to stay here again.

About Loreto

Perched on the wild, sage brush-strewn coast of Baja California, the town of Loreto beckons visitors with its pristine Pacific shores and rugged natural beauty. There are endless fun and exciting things to do here on the beach, along the busy sides streets of the downtown area, and along the winding inland trails. Come here for an outdoor adventure, a relaxing escape, or a chance to enjoy the sun and sand and reconnect with loved ones. The best way to experience Loreto is with a stay vacation rental of your own. A condo or villa just a few steps away from the beach can be the perfect place to store your beach gear and outdoor equipment and relax in style.

Wake up in your villa and enjoy a quiet breakfast on your private balcony. Spend your mornings on a Loreto golf course or in a luxury spa. Then hit the beach for Loreto fishing, swimming, snorkeling, or world-class Loreto diving. Explore the coast, visit historic sites and local museums, or head out to sea on a sailing adventure. At the end of the day, experience Loreto's award winning seafood restaurants and energetic nightlife, or come home to your vacation rental and host dinner and a campfire on the beach for your family and friends.

Here are a few additional suggestions of things to do in the area:

  • Rent a sea kayak: Loreto kayaking outfitters can set you up with a kayak and an experienced guide who can lead you on a marine eco-tour along the coast.
  • Go deep sea fishing: Loreto fishing excursions leave every day from the harbor and take experienced fishermen and beginners into the deep waters of the Pacific for dorado, sailfish, and yellowtail.
  • Go on a whale watching tour: Between the months of January and March, Loreto whale watching trips can lead visitors to encounters with legendary blue whales who migrate past this area.
  • Go sailing and diving in Loreto Bay National Marine Park: For the best Loreto diving experience, spend the afternoon in this marine park surrounded by colorful fish and bottlenose dolphins.
  • Go horseback riding: Horseback riding stables around the Loreto area offer guided trail rides, one on one lessons, or the chance to gallop along the beach as the sun sets over the Pacific.
  • Go strolling and people watching along Malecon Avenue: This popular surfside gathering spot is a great place to shop, dine, or reconnect over a drink at a local cafe.

You'll never run out of things to explore in the outdoor beauty of Loreto, no matter what time of year you plan your visit. When you finally arrive, unpack your things in your home away from home, plan your day's adventures, and start making fun vacation memories.

Welcoming home in the heart of Loreto

Francisco, the owner is a kind and pleasant man who made us feel very comfortable. His apartment was all you could want and the location, near the square was ultra convenient. We would have stayed longer, but as golfers we preferred to stay at the nearby resort. … see more
Loreto Beach Oasis
Glorious sunrises plus the best mattress in Mexico

As a seasoned Mexico traveler and lover of Baja, I strive to watch the sunrise every morning. Here, I could just roll out of bed, make my coffee and walk out the front door to the beach. The house is right on a very private beach and if you can scramble down a few large stones you will come to the beach that is st the end of town. You can walk on this beach until your heart’s content. The house is lovely, spacious and bright. The kitchen is well equipped and the patio is private and looks out to Isla Carmen. There is a grand and handy washer and dryer and everything that you need for a perfect vacation But most of all, they have good mattresses and the house is safe and quiet. Good mattresses are very hard to find in Mexico. Thank you Violet for a lovely stay.see more
Romantic Baja getaway in Loreto Bay
Our stay at anita's in Loreto Bay exceeded all our expectations!

From the moment we arrived my husband and I were struck with the natural beauty of the surroundings. The development with its colorful villas, surrounded by the mountains is a sight to behold. The sunsets seen from the top level of the condo are spectacular only equalled by the display of stars against the black velvet sky at night. The condo itself is beautiful, spacious and comfortably furnished. We enjoyed morning breakfast on the lower level terrace and evening dining on the upper level under the spectacular canopy of stars. The master bedroom is huge, and the bathroom is luxurious with a deep soaking tub and oversize shower. The amenities provided by anita, including the matching robes in the master bedroom made you feel you were at a luxury hotel. The beach on the beautiful Sea of Cortez is a short walk from your door and the water is warm and inviting. We enjoyed not only relaxing by the sea but also snorkeling, kayaking and dining at two of the restaurants on the hotel premises. There is also a fabulous golf course with additional dining choices and great views. In addition to the sea, you can swim in one of the two beautiful inviting pools or just relax under the palapas. We loved going into the nearby town of Loreto which is an unspoiled gem where you can soak in the local culture or enjoy dining at one of the restaurants. We especially enjoyed the restaurant at the La Mision Hotel on the Malacon. The seafood was scrumptious and the service superb! Be sure to convert your currency into Mexican pesos as that is the only currency accepted in most shops. We would definitely like to return to Loreto Bay!see more

Loreto Bay is a little sliver of paradise and Casa Illuminata was right in the center!

We had a wonderful stay in Loreto Bay -- traveled with a 4 1/2 and 13 year old and it couldn't have been easier. The house is really within a 3 min walk to the beach, to several pools and the community center. The house itself is great with a big indoor patio and spacious rooms. Very comfortable. We rented a car and went into town everyday for ice-cream and groceries. The town is really close and easy to get around. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. Felicia provided tons of information before our departure so we were able to organize our stay before leaving. The contact once in Loreto was also really helpful. The only thing I would tell people that I hadn't realized is that the master bedroom is upstairs with an access from the interior patio so if you are traveling with small children you might want to bring the monitor as you won't hear them from the bedroom. (our 13 year old was our monitor). Honestly, a great trip -- great location, great house and very friendly people. We will be back!see more

Great Location - Very Friendly Locals

This place was great. To be a fair review, I have to add that there are local dogs that run around at all hours of the night barking. We just went and bought earplugs and problem solved. Also, this is technically not a two bedroom. There is one very large bedroom on the bottom floor by the kitchen with a bathroom. The "second" bedroom is in the loft with an open air plan. There is a bathroom up in the loft so no need to come down at night to use the facilities. This place was in an awesome location. Just two blocks to everything you could possibly want and about three blocks to the beach. Kathy, the manager, was an asset. She stopped by to answer any questions we had. We made a suggestion to her that Michael should email directions to the place in Spanish. That way you can just give the directions to the cab driver and there would be no frustration trying to explain it to the cab driver. Not everyone speaks English (but why should they?). But all in all, this place is a definite place I'd stay in again.see more
