“Great place to stay in Costambar, D.R.” If you've never been to the D.R. before and want an experience that has a more local feel, I would suggest staying at the Ola Del Mar apartment Suites. It is owned and operated by Sabine Warthland with the help of her son and daughter-in law. They are there to greet you at the airport and provide transportation back at the end of your stay. The very clean, cute and comfortable apartments provide a very relaxing place to begin and end your days. The long sandy beach is a 5 minute walk from the apartment and the city of Puerto Plata is a 10 minute car ride. If you like to walk as I do, you can walk to Puerto Plata as it is only about 5 kilometres away.Originally being from Haiti, Sabine is very knowledgeable about both the Dominican and Haitian geographical and political climates. She speaks Spanish, French and English fluently and is more than willing to help all her clients discover the beauty of the country. I have never stayed anywhere (in the many countries I've traveled) that provide the care and support to their clients as what this family does. As a first timer to the D.R. I found that invaluable. If you are looking for a resort stay, this is not it, but if you want to get to know more about the real D.R. and enjoy the sun, beach, golf and various other activities the country has to offer then I would suggest staying here!

“Home away from home” This vacation rental was recommended to me from a business associate. I have been coming to Sosua on business for the last 2 years. The villa looks just like the pictures on the site. It is very clean, and very well maintained. The backyard is very spacious, with a swimming pool for entertaining. It sits in a gated community which provides additional security and privacy. There is a state of the art gym on the community grounds along with a play ground and water slides for the kids. For your convenience, there is a mini mart at the entrance of the gated community. It's within walking distance of the villa. A Dominican woman name Yuby operates the store. She is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. She sales hot dishes as well as sandwiches and beverages. She is known for her Lasagna. If you are staying 5 days or more, I would recommend renting a car. I think it might be cheaper and a lot more convenient than calling a taxi. A taxi into Sosua takes about 5 minutes, and should not cost more the 300 pesos/8 us dollars. Caberete, is approximately 15 to 20 minutes away and should cost 600 to 700 pesos by taxi. You can live on the wild side and take a motor concho, if you like (a motor bike, moped taxi), but I wouldn't recommend it. Caberete has very beautiful beaches and excellent beachfront restaurants. The owners of the villa property (Catherine and Craig) went up and beyond the call of duty. They were friendly and very accommodating. They paid attention to detail, and made my stay there very pleasant. If I had a question, or if there was a problem, they got back to me in a timely manner, and were very professional. This couple really understands customer service. So when you see the caption above their vacation rental which reads " Mi casa es su Casa" (My home is your home) it is true. “Perfecto!” Just returned from a much needed vacation with a group of friends that was oh so memorable!! everything went as planned or better! one of the reasons i think everything went so well is were we stayed. The place is as, if not more beautiful than the pictures! The home and the furnishings are well designed and solid. The linens are of high quality, and the home is very well equipped, with a fully equipped kitchen. even had a washer and driver in the laundry room at our disposal that came in very handy. I was met by Oxana and Roman at both, check in and check out. They were timely, courteous and professional. What I really liked about them is how reachable they were, either by email or cell. The one possible con is that i think one should have a car to stay there, but that was not an issue for us since we rented two cars, and the car rental rates in DR are very good. In closing, very nicely design home, with beautiful, solid furnishings and a professional and courteous staff/management to attend to you. we had a very enjoyable stay!
