“Home away from home down under” I am from Canada and have travelled extensively. I much prefer a rental to a hotel so have stayed in several in varied locations. I stayed here for 11 nights while in Sydney to attend two Sept. conferences. I shared the unit with a colleague. She had spent an earlier week here with family before heading off to see some other areas of the country. We caught up back at the unit two nights after I had arrived. I was very grateful to my colleague because she wrote me in advance to let me know some key information (e.g., how to get there by train from the airport, nearby options for groceries, wine and takeout meals) so arrival in the dark was easy. Used the supplied entry code (it was tricky to read in the dim porchlight) and made it in. My first impressions? Quaint yet modern, stylish and spotless. It was a nice place to arrive after a long journey. In addition to the two bedrooms (each with a plump bed and crisp white bedding), there is an open kitchen/living area, a small bathroom with shower, and a private courtyard (which is where the stacking laundry is located). Things I loved about the unit: - Historic charm, yet modern conveniences. - Spotless, generally well equipped. - Ideal setup for sharing or for a family (open plan great for gathering). - Great location (funky area, walking distance to Sydney Uni, easy transit commute to downtown). - Prompt, friendly email correspondence with owner. I would have appreciated: - Some written notes (e.g., how to work gas heater, how to get to grocery store, liquor store, etc., recommended local dining spots and attractions) - have commonly received those at other rentals. - Included wifi. Being an international traveller, I could not use data roaming or my phone without incurring huge charges. I eventually found local cafes with wifi but this was a huge inconvenience, particulary since we needed to connect with colleagues. - Better knives. - More comfortable dining chairs. Overall, a great experience.

About New South Wales

×

With perfectly preserved beaches, wonderful pockets of wilderness and spellbinding natural treasures, New South Wales is a vacation destination full of opportunities. It’s the most visited state in Australia and when you arrive, it won’t you take long to realize why.

Get right into the heart of the action by staying in one of FlipKey's popular New South Wales properties.

About New South Wales

New South Wales, often shortened to NSW, is the ultimate hub for culture vultures. Its vibrant capital city, Sydney, acts the perfect base to explore the state.

With Queensland to the north, Victoria to the south and South Australia to the west, you are surrounded by awe-inspiring landscapes…

The Tasman Sea lines the east coast and has been nicknamed 'The Ditch' by both Australians and New Zealanders. This is because it acts as a crossing zone between the two countries.

New South Wales is also home to Australia’s tallest mountain, Mount Kosciuszko, and offers every type of snow sport you could imagine. What will you try this trip?

There are five World Heritage sites to discover in New South Wales, and an abundance of leisurely activities to enjoy. Sydney, commonly referred to by locals as The Harbour City, is home to star attractions like the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and Bondi Beach.

What to do in New South Wales

As the country’s largest cosmopolitan city, it should come as no surprise that Sydney provides an array of dining, shopping and clubbing opportunities to suit all styles.

Potts Point and Surry Hills are two must-see hip inner city neighborhoods that guarantee a good time! Listen to live music, try a selection of street food or plot up with a beverage on a rooftop terrace.

There are long stretches of public beaches all along the east coast where everyone comes together to bask in the sun, so unless you’re a creature of habit there’s no reason not to set up in a different spot every day – hop around a little to make the most of your stay!

Check out the art culture in Chippendale, get your heart pumping with surfing and skydiving in Byron Bay or head to the Blue Mountains and walk to the foot of The Three Sisters.

Top New South Wales travel tips

Just three hours south of Sydney is Hyams Beach, where you’ll find the world’s whitest sand. The best way to travel to locations like this in and around Sydney is by renting a vehicle or taking a ferry.

Of course, easy passage through New South Wales is necessary for cross-continent transport, meaning that the entire area is well connected by rail and road.

Blinding beaches, warm welcomes, lush rainforests, seaside villages and hard-core hikes are just a few things you can look forward to when visiting New South Wales.

From individuals and couples to families and friends – there’s something for everyone. Why wait any longer to gift yourself the experience of a lifetime? Book your FlipKey property, today!
