“Wow what a fantastic holiday” Anne ,Chris & Riley were very welcoming and friendly. They were very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the island and the information they provided was very useful. The house has everything and more for what you require and the real fire is so welcoming. Views were amazing especially looking down to the bridge and river.We would love to return in the spring when you have longer hours of sunlight because when it gets dark it really gets dark. However the dark nights are also a bonus as we did not know there were so many stars in the sky.

“Holiday at Home” We stayed at abhainn Cottage for a long weekend as a birthday treat. The house was beautifully finished, and the open fire was a real bonus! It is immaculately kept, with all the mod-cons and a real luxury feeling to it. The owner was on hand to welcome us, and was always available if needed. We are from the island but the cottage was perfect for a 'get away weekend'. Its located in a very peaceful area, but is only a short drive from the main town and from several beautiful beaches, so we were able to have the best of both worlds! I will definitely make a return visit to abhainn Cottage, and be recommending it to our families and friends as a must-visit!!

“A beguiling setting” Great house , superb location, very clean and comfortable. Loved the big window, you can while away a lot of time just looking out at the sea and the changing light. House was really cosy , we lit the stove a couple of times , it wasn't really necessary. but it was nice. We had a lot of clear sunny weather which meant that the stars were amazing. The night we arrived we got out of the car and looked up and saw the Milky Way, it was fabulous. Harris is beautiful , great walking on the beaches and on the mountains but the hills are tough. Bought Harris tweed and some lovely handspun yarn in Lewis. A perfect trip!

“Fantastic” One Manish is true getaway destination. Surrounded by sea and sheep this is truly one of the most peaceful places in the UK. We stayed here with 3 children and grandparents and, without fail, every single person loved this place. The house is really nicely tucked away overlooking the water with beautiful views towards Skye. Inside the cottage there's a great stove and range although neither were needed because the underfloor heating was magic. Rooms are all extremely comfortable and well presented and facilities are second to none. This is a really warm and welcoming place to relax and switch off. On Harris there are magnificent beaches, mountains and wildlife in abundance. Lots of activities including watersports(boogie boarding at Luskentyre is brilliant), walking, fishing(freshwater and sea) and coffee shops(try Skoon art cafe - really nice). Tarbert Stores is also a great stop if you need anything DIY and even if you don't it's well worth a visit if you're in Tarbert. Alternatively you could quite happily stay at One Manish and do absolutely nothing but relax and look out the window.

“The ard, a home from home.” We came to the Isle of Lewis as it was an area of Scotland as yet unexplored. Knowing the unpredictability of the weather we wanted a comfortable and warm place to stay. In the ard we found what we wanted, an ideal place to stay for an autumnal holiday break. On arrival there were delicious homemade scones which were devoured with relish and a most beautiful bunch of flowers. Norma gave us warm welcome and on walking through the front door the warmth of the home embraced us and we settled in immediately. The most comfortable place I've stayed with wonderful views and everything within easy access. We had the use of bikes and fishing rods and when the weather permitted we made the most of them. Fishing near the Norse mill at the inlet seemed too easy as the mackeral were leaping out of the water! On cycling back from Bosta beach we followed a golden eagle, a truly magnificent sight which crowned our magical visit to Bosta. We had many more wonderful days exploring Bernera and Lewis/Harris, a week wasn't long enough. The ard had a lovely log burning stove which we were looking forward to lighting but as the house was so warm and comfortable the opportunity didn't arise. Needless to say we had a wonderful holiday but having seen only part of the island we will have to return and explore the rest, returning the to the ard as its the only place for us to stay.

Ideal cottage, perfect location. Owner's attention to detail is excellent.

We had a wonderful holiday in this superbly clean and fully equipped cottage. The location is peaceful with fabulous sea-views and is ideally placed for discovering the Isles of Harris and Lewis. The owner was most helpful in arranging our holiday and advising re travel to the Outer Hebrides. The village of Tarbert ( where the ferry from Uig, Isle of Skye arrives ) is 3 miles away with food stores, restaurant, Tourist Information and even a cash machine! … see more

Pretty, very quiet location with no passing traffic

I stayed here for a week, and took the dog. Stornoway is a very beautiful place, and the location was very quiet and very private, at the end of its own lane, so no passing traffic. There was a little back garden and an enclosed decking area that opened from the main bedroom where we sat on an evening and enjoyed looking over the loch, (in fact it felt like we had our own personal loch!) The manager was very helpful and the cottage was very well equipped, with everything you could wish for, and they left us some salmon in the freezer and milk etc (and even a tin of dog food!) for our arrival, which was lovely. It would have been great if there had been access to the back garden from the decking without having to walk round the outside. The main bedroom was large and comfortable. The other beds were sofa beds, one in the lounge and one in the conservatory. My adult daughter chose to sleep in the conservatory, but when the sun came up it got very hot very quickly, so unless the owners have now fitted blinds, you need to bear those things in mind. I can't comment on the sofa bed in the lounge because we didn't use it. Sadly, although we were promised internet access there was none all week (there was even a laptop there that we could use, which would have been helpful but there was no access from the cottage laptop either). There was also no mobile phone signal until we'd driven about 5-10 minutes up the road, although there was a house phone. The manager was lovely and said that the internet was often weak on the island, and that we could go up to her house and try, but we didn't want to do that as it felt a bit invasive. It was a shame because, expecting internet I had not set an away message for my email and had not researched restaurants or attractions (of which there are many), so we had to drive to the Isle of Harris Knitwear Company shop to get a bit of internet access. A warning about the internet prior to arrival would have made my trip better because I could have planned ahead more. So, to sum up, if you want to get away from it all and you don't need to be in touch with work or whatever, and you research what you want to do on the island prior to going, this cottage gets 100%! … see more

We had the pleasure of staying here for a week. Very clean and homely. Good facilities including a full size fridge and freezer and a must have on a self catering holiday a full size dishwasher! A perfect retreat with your own live show!

I have to admit, when we arrived on Harris and took the east coast road to Molban through the moonscape scenery, we wondered where on earth we had come! However, as soon as we walked into Molban it was like entering a warm and spacious cocoon. The view onto the bay is mesmerising and as the weather was pretty windy and wet, it was a haven to be on the other side of glass behind the elements! The house is very well kitted out and even though there were a couple of places to eat out, we cooked in most nights as it would have been a shame to leave the view! We had all sorts of plans to do all sorts of things but somehow never got around to 3/4 of them! The one full sunny day we had, we could not tear ourselves away from the shelter of the headland just beyond the back garden fence, just watching all 11 seals doing exactly the same as us..basking in the sun! Molban gets you by the short and curlies and does'nt want to let you go. It was the perfect place to re charge weary batteries from the hubbub of daily life. The west coast beaches are stunning and its definitely worth exploring the other bays too if you get the chance...they all have lovely galleries, all different, and if you come away empty handed you are stronger than we were!
