“Amazing week at The Devon Lodge” We returned this Summer to the Devon lodge. The weather forecast was not good but turned out to be wrong. We were on the beach most days until the evening, the children were body boarding and rockpooling and kite flying. We spent our time at Duckpool, Sandymouth, Croyde and Bude. Fantastic week, would highly recommend. Didn't spend too much time in the Lodge as we were out each day but the accommodation is of very high standard, it was very comfortable, clean and very well equipped for eating in and maps, games, etc.

“very relaxing family holidays” we enjoyed a quiet and relaxing stay at Downes. The location is great but not close for restaurants, supermarkets and beaches, it requires some driving, this is why we deducted a star. The start for comfort was deducted because we felt a noise coming on/going off in early morning for a boiler or something in one of the rooms even though heating was off. This woke us occassionally and is overall a minor thing. Overall a very nice stay and already recommended further. In terms of comfort and equipments: very well equipped, everything is here, and we mean everything, nothing to bring. We would come again.

“A lovley place to Stay” Service very good, everything worked. The accommodation clean, tidy and warm the only down side is that the bed was a little uncomfortable. The Spa was very friendyl but professional. There are plans to extend and include a swimmingpool which will enhance the place.

“Absolute peace and quiet - perfectly tranquil” We enjoyed a 3 night break in Vine Cottage and would recommend it without hesitation. The location is perfect for a relaxing 'away from it all' break. The cottage was beautifully clean and had absolutely everything to make our short break enjoyable. We ordered a meal from the 'in-house menu' on one evening and would certainly recommend eating in at least once. The food was excellent. Jeremy welcomed us and showed us around the cottage and then we were left to enjoy our holiday. Both Lynda and Jeremy really want their guests to enjoy the area and the cottages. We didn't try the spa, simply because there were so many places we wanted to visit and didn't find time to use the facilities provided. So refreshing to find a cottage which ticks all the boxes.

“I cannot fault this stay” I have stayed in several of Lynda and Jeremy's cottages over the past few years. I have yet to find anywhere to stay on holiday that's so relaxing and relaxed. I am very particular when it comes to privacy, quiet and cleanliness but I never have to worry about anything when I go to Downe House. The Roes are the perfect hosts and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. Do go and visit!

“A relaxing, romantic stay with outstanding food!” This was a great break. The cottage was comfortable & warm with a very good bed and superb shower! The hot stone massage was really sensational - totally relaxing but what really stood out was the excellent food. Delicious, with a really home cooked feel - great portion sizes & the home grown salad just topped it off perfectly. We felt like we had a week away, not a weekend! The spa facilities were good and the sauna & steam was great temperature and never over full. The owners clearly cared a lot about how good a time we had and wanted to do everything they could. Highly recommended!

“Great place to stay and re-charge your batteries!” From the moment of arriving Jeremy and Lynda couldn't have done more to make me feel welcome and valued. The cottage was immaculate and had everything you could possibly need. The location is superb and is very peaceful yet plenty to do on the doorstep. I heartily recommend a cream tea at Cheristow Lavendar which is just a short walk away and a visit to atlantic Village in Bideford. The only downside was having to go home!

“Top quality accommodation set in outstanding coastal countryside” The standard of accommodation exceeded expectations and the attention to detail in preparing the cottage (Honeysuckle) for holiday lets was so comprehensive that even the most discerning guests would find it difficult to nit pick. The owners, Jeremy & Lynda Roe, extended a warm welcome and provided lots of very useful local information and recomendations about the area (The meals at Downe are worth a try).

“What a find! Great accommodation in a fantastic location.” Stayed here with the family and had a great time. Cottage offers very flexible sleeping arrangements with 2 doubles, a twin and a bunk room. Living areas are well sized, nicely kitted out and very comfortable. Highlights have to be the terrace - right on top of the harbour, a great spot for a relax with a drink watching kids crabbing below - and also the location. Easy walking distance to the shops and pubs - you have to try the cobweb!! Walking the other direction from the cottage and you are right on the South West coast path and are able to walk for miles over the cliff tops - spectacular. Overall a great spot to be based - we will be back!
