“Fabulous location & villa” We arrived after a stunning scenic drive through acres of palms and picturesque villages alongside a meandering river. Expecting disappointment after such a start, we braced ourselves; a steep climb and we reached a narrow ridge. As the ridge broadened out the villa revealed itself, rendering us speechless. A stunning location: sea views; cradled sides and rear with mist-shrouded mountain rainforest peaks. Luis, the manager a loyal friend of the owner, is one of a kind. He was discretion itself, sometimes walking up to service the pool at five am, before working on the family farm. The villa is a curved structure framed in glass; a central atrium topped by a massive overhanging roof bringing shade to the huge curved terraces gracing the large master suits on the first floor. All glass, with stunning 360 degree views. The curved horizon pool includes a set of canals into the atrium and traversed by a wooden bridge. After an extensive shop we settled into the villa and didn't move till it was time to leave. We never felt safer or more in love with a place. Lastly, more about Luis: he is Eden Estate - approaching all aspects of his job with dedication to make your stay memorable. Nothing is too much trouble. One morning he arrived with a beautifully-attired horse: one of the many wild horses roaming the estate, captured, tamed and trained by locals for Luis. "A surprise!" he exclaimed. Having never mounted a horse in my life I did have some reservations. But, we enjoyed this quiet steed as Luis walked her gracefully around the grounds. After that we became friends and he regaled us with stories of family life past and present; his travels to the us, South america and his dreams for the future. Booking was easy, the directions superb and, all in all, Steve (the owner) was very keen to make sure that we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Recommended for a peaceful vacation, yet within easy reach of the Central Pacific coast and the Manuel antonio area.

The Bali House on the Beach, best location by far!
Manuel Antonio villa
5 bedrooms / 7 bathrooms / sleeps 12
“Perfect!” This is a wonderfully unique property - stunning, open Asian design / floor plan, multiple private bedrooms, all set within a private jungle, with access to Manuel Antonio beach. What more is there to say? The master bedroom is fantastic, and all the bedrooms are extremely well-appointed, if sparse, in their Asian/Aman Hotel sort of way. The heart of the property is the open air living room, with an incredible Indonesian ceiling construction. Being surrounded by lush jungle, open air, and beautiful polished wood - it's exquisite. For our extended family, including small children, we found the infinity pool "just right" in terms of size and location. The walk down to the private beach access is gorgeous in and of itself and the beach, spectacular (bring boogie board fins to take max advantage.) Ownership and staff were wonderfully helpful. The overall location within Manuel Antonio was ideal, and unparalleled, to our perspective. We'd strongly recommend this property and look forward to returning!!

“Great rooms and amazing service!” We stayed in a condo here for almost a week and had a very nice time. The units are spacious and clean and there are only 8 of them so the pool is never crowded. The monkeys will come right up to your balcony and peek in on you, and the place has a guarded gate at the entry 24 hours a day so everything is secure. The location is good as well, right between Quepos and Manuel Antonio so it's close to everything without being right in the middle of a crowded area. We left having had a very nice time and only discovered that we had left a laptop in one of the rooms after receiving an urgent email (we had no phone service) from Dorit, who manages the front office. We had already driven several hours away to our next hotel when we received the message, and were set to fly home a day later. I was afraid I would have to spend my entire day driving back to get the computer, but Dorit quickly and cheerfully arranged it so their driver would deliver the computer to us at our new hotel, 4 hours away (!), that next morning for a very reasonable fee - probably less than I would have spent in fuel if I made the trip to get it myself! They really went above and beyond and saved us a huge hassle and from having to waste our whole last day in the country driving back for the computer. I can't recommend this location highly enough, and the price for the rooms is great as well! Book it now!

“Debra's 50th Birthday” By far one of the best vacations ever. Casa Espanola is a fabulous, upscale villa that is spacious, modern and clean. I traveled with a group of 20 people and everyone was in awe. I probably will never go to a hotel again after the Casa Espanola experience. The dining area was big enough for everyone, thus producing a total family vibe at mealtime. The rooms are big and the beds are huge. Chef Glenda and her daughter were the absolute best and the menu selections are just too many to name. The ride from SJO airport was 2 1/2 hrs but no one seemed to mind the long ride because it gave you an opportunity to sightsee. We also took the local bus in Manuel Antonio for about .67 cents....what a deal. I can't say enough about this fabulous place. I can't wait to go back. Thanks to Amy, Hazel and the staff at Casa Espanola.

“A perfect family Christmas holiday at Casa Brisas” Our family of 8: my husband, myself and our three grown children and their spouses were looking for a special Christmas destination this year, away from the cold of the Northeast and Canada, and couldn't have been more pleased that we found the perfect spot, Randy and Claudia’s Casa Brisas. This was the first trip to Costa Rica for all of us and we wanted opportunities for some adventures (like deep sea fishing, surfing and zip-lining) and also a comfortable place for some downtime, away from the crowds and bustle of beach towns. This beautiful home suited our needs perfectly. The setting is idyllic, with views over the Pacific, toucans and other birds in the trees, hammocks to lounge on for reading and a fantastic infinity pool ready to jump in day or evening. The house had 4 large private bedrooms, so each couple had at least a queen size bed and privacy. The decks, balconies and grounds gave everyone a chance to sit peacefully and read or go for a quiet walk. We had originially thought we would be going into town in the evenings for dinner, but in fact, it was so beautiful at the house that after a day’s adventures, we were happy to settle in, cook in the well-equipped kitchen, talk, star gaze, swim and relax. This was good, as the road down the hill into town is tough in the evening. I also cannot complete a note on the house without mentioning, as others have before me, how helpful Randy and Claudia were to our family. Starting with working with me months in advance on planning, Randy gave me many suggestions for tour operators for activities like deep sea fishing and zip-lining that I am glad we booked in advance, as Christmas week is busy. Randy met us at the airport, with the Toyota and escorted us down the coast. He really thought of everything, including had arranging to make sure we had some food in the house for breakfast the following morning. Randy was just a huge help keeping things on track when one of the couple’s flight was delayed and we had to arrange a taxi for them, Randy dealt with the drive and even went into town himself late in the evening to drive the late arrivers up to the house… Try getting service like that at a big hotel!! Having the option to use the Toyota SUV while at the house is a great perk too. My husband and I did rent a car and then used the kids used Toyota for transportation, so we were all able to head out on separate adventures when appropriate or have easy travel room for all 8 of us. Do rent an SUV or other 4 X 4, as you need it on the roads to up Casa Brisas (Randy had warned me). Do not hesitate to book this beautiful home, you’ll have a wonderful time and be glad you did.

“A trip to paradise” Fun, sun, relaxations and truly an education. You can find all that at Casa Tres Palmas. We just spent 6 wonderful days there. The house is everything you need for your vacation. Roomy, well laid out and the pool is the right touch for the end of the day swim after all your beach and zip line adventures. It is truly in between Quepos and Manuel antonio. We actually walk into town one day to the central market. All excursions will pick you up at the house. Tom B. the house manager was excellent in helping us pick choices in daily activities and our wife's loved the fact the there is a maid every day to pick-up and clean up. If you are looking for a nice get away this is the place.

“Puts the "ahh" back in "awesome"” The following description can only begin to illustrate what a lovely place this is. Look at the pictures, it is actually as good as they promise. The house is beautifully situated on a hill side overlooking sea and forests. It is convenient as well as romantic. Our youngest spent a lot of time exploring new angels from which you could see through the house and the many balconies. From the house we saw - not glimpsed, but observed up close and for sometimes extended periods of time: A sloth, monkeys, armadillos, a giant toad, hummingbirds, lots of colorful birds, lizards, land crabs and a poisonous frog. All though we kept the doors and windows open night and day when we were home, we saw no unwelcome creatures inside the house. Only the geckos who hunted along the ceilings during the night. Howler monkeys howled when the sun set and rose. The area provided excellent possibilities for rest and recreation: We tried mangrove kayaking, scuba diving, snorkeling, white water rafting and zip-lining. All arranged by the care taker's daughter and all within 30 minutes drive from the house, where we were picked up for the tours. We walked the 10 minutes to the closest "secret" beach or drove for five minutes to get to the more public, but far from crowded, wide beach. Every night we ate at a new restaurant of which there are plenty within walking distance. Some nights we also drove the 10 minutes to Quepos, the nearest town. Any needs we might discover during our stay was taken immediately care of by the caretaker. The only drawback of the place is that it is inaccessible to people with disabilities. The price of the breathtaking view is a stair with exactly 100 rather breathtaking steps from the road to the door. All in all a very nice place to spend your holidays.

“Great Value!” We stayed at La Nina for a month from mid-January to mid-February. It is within a gated property, making it very secure. The cottage has a fully-equipped kitchen with all the utensils and appliances one needs to make meals. The appliances are fully functioning and sparkling clean. As a matter of fact, we made many dinners 'at home' because fresh fruits, veggies, meat and seafood are readily available from the supermarket only a few minutes from the cottage. The weekend farmers' market is not to be missed for those who love to cook. There is a small selection of dvds in the cottage. Bring your own and relax in the evenings with a beer or two, or a bottle of wine. You can also play music from your own device and enjoy! Although the daytime temperatures were higher than normal while we were there, the four ceiling fans kept the place cool and comfortable. If you really need to cool off, the swimming pool is the pièce de résistance! There is plenty of storage space in the bedroom. The ensuite bathroom is spacious. Alicia, the housekeeper, comes three times a week to clean and refresh towels and bed linens. Maxwell and Sascha, Pete's canine ambassadors, will always remind you of their presence albeit in the most unintrusive ways! For what we were asked to pay for the cottage, it is the best deal in town.

“Perfect Beach Wedding Location!” We had our wedding at the Discovery Beach House and it was a truly amazing experience. If you’re looking for a beach wedding location in Manuel Antonio, I highly recommend doing it here with Chelsea Brandau as the wedding coordinator. (She’s not directly associated with DBH, but did such a phenomenal job that she deserves recognition) The house itself is lovely and comfortable; the perfect gathering place for our large group of friends and family. We spent a lot of time hanging out by the pool, in the hot tub, and on the back patio. Its proximity to the beach can’t be beat! It was so nice to be able to lounge by the beach and make the short walk into the house to grab a drink or use the restroom. It felt like we had our own private section of the beach behind the house. The staff here is amazing! We hosted gatherings at the house for several days, including the wedding, and they were excellent about accommodating us with a smile. They offer 24-hour security and assistance, which was an excellent feature. We felt safe being outside at night and well attended (Juan was there to unlock an accidentally locked door at 1 a.m. ☺). We wanted a beach wedding with a more authentic and personalized experience than a resort and Discovery Beach House was simply perfect! We’re so happy we chose to have our wedding weekend here. It was AMAZING!

“Very modern place with upgraded key essentials” I have stayed in places where the photos and the actual place simply do not match up. This place is beautiful and even better in person. We by chance stayed while the owners were also on vacation and what a pleasant experience. They are passionate about this place down to the detail of the sheet thread count and quality of the towels. There concierge was excellent and the recommendations for everything from food to adventures was right on. The way the small houses are laided out are very private and quaint. The decorations to the kitchen items provided were very impressive. The location is close to everything. I am big on bathrooms and was very satisfied. We will definitely stay here again this summer or for sure next year. The price was very competitive and after looking around at other places in this price range nothing and I mean nothing compared.

“Absolutely fantastic” We were a family of 8 travelling from Canada... 4 daughters aged 12 to 23, son-in-law and boyfriend, plus my wife and I. Everything about the trip was fantastic. The listing was not accurate...because the pictures don't do it justice! Unbelievable size, layout, comfort, etc. and what a view. The monkeys came by most days and the weather was perfect. Absolutely perfect. We were very comfortable with 8 people ...and there was room for more. Alex is excellent in his organizing of all our activities. We tried the horse back riding, repelling, national park tour and catamaran sail. All highly recommended. He organizes for pick up and drop off at the front door. Local restaurants were excellent too. Although cab drivers told us the walk to the beach was either "too long or too dangerous (due to traffic)", we walked it every day without problem. It was a great way to get some exercise after spending a day at the beach. Another thing alex did was organize an on-site meal provided by a local chef (Kukula?). It was one of the best meals we have ever had, and we do a lot of travelling. We didn't rent a car, as the local grocery store was within walking distance, as were the restaurants, and we didn't mind the 20 minute walk to the beach. We flew to San Jose, and alex organized the 2 1/2 trip for pick up and drop off at the end of the stay. The house was cleaned every day (we didn't realize that), and there are laundry facilities on site. We definitely over-packed. This is a flip flop and short/swim suit vacation. We didn't need to wear a sweater at any time during our stay. We will go back and I recommend this for families, couples, etc. The only caution I would have is for those with small children. The building code is no where near the restrictions that we have in Canada, and as such, the area around the main floor, infinity pool and stairs may be a safety hazard for small children. For adults, it adds to the beauty of this spectacular place! A+++

“An exotic nature haven which invites peaceful relaxation and rej” Myself and partner had the pleasure of staying in Casa Tango which is part of the Chaman apartments complex in Manuel antonio for the month of November 2012. The home had everything that we needed for a comfortable stay including air conditioning and kitchen facilities. Casa Tango shares a lovely garden and swimming pool area which is maintained to a very high standard. Monkeys, sloths and other native animals are a common sight while relaxing in the pool area. Chaman apartments are ideally situated only 2 minutes walk from the bus stop, 15mins walk down the hill into Quepos and a short taxi ride to Manual antonio's many cafes, restaurants, beaches and national park. We strongly recommend Emilio's café for the most delicious tuna salad, coffee and desserts. If you are wanting a peaceful haven to base yourself while enjoying the natural beauty of Quepos and Manual antonio or seeking adventure from the many activities that are available in the area or just wanting a quiet place to relax then Casa Tango and Chaman apartments are where you need to be.
