“gorgeous hillside guesthouse, interesting & thoughtful hosts” Karol and Merv Stewart make this a special place, from the lovely guesthouse to helping with tours & advice. I don't mind the flowers, lizards & hummingbirds, and dview of Montserrat either. One morning Merv walked through the yard picking limes, mangos and soursop for me. It's about 4/10 of a mile to the main road, where you can catch a bus every few minutes to the supermarket, casino, marina etc. in Jolly Harbour-- or just walk a mile to get there. 4 beaches within a mile and a half, with restaurants at a couple of the beaches. If you like birds, they got plenty at the salt pond just landward of Darkwood beach.

A little slice of Paradise...

Where do I start?! I'm super glad i choose to travel to antigua & stay at Stoneyhill apt's. Both exceeded my expectations & dreams. Everything about my short 6 night stay was perfect & hassle free. So relaxing that 6 nights felt like 6 weeks! I was greeted at airport by Nat (local taxi driver organized by owner Karol) and driven door to door. The 3 private apartments have an idyllic and exclusive location set into the hillside overlooking the palm tree fringed Caribbean Sea. There are many local restaurant's, a massive supermarket and marina within a short drive or a 20-30 min walk of the apartments. There are also 3 absolutely stunning local beaches, again 5 min drive or 15/20 min walk away. White sand, crystal clear aqua waters and lovely palm tress. It really is picture postcard paradise! From the moment I arrived the owners Karol & Merv treated me like extended family or an old friend. They really give a warm welcome and nothing is too much trouble for them, driving me around. I was travelling alone and they really made me feel comfortable & safe. Karol makes wonderful Caribbean curry and Merv amazing cocktails! Both have lived on the island for a long time so they are full of wonderful tips for things to do and places to eat / drink etc. The apartments are spacious and very tastefully furnished. It felt like a 5* luxury apartment. Balcony is massive with your own hammock! The outdoor pool is cooling after the midday sun and is perfectly located, overlooking the ocean only a few steps away from the apt's and next to Merv's bar! Really enjoyed our late night discussions about island life and sampling local rum & fruits from the extensive & lush gardens. If you enjoy wildlife you will love the gardens. I highly recommend a trip to Cades Reef, snorkelling and your own mini speed boat for half a day. Go to the Sunday evening reggae night at Shirley Heights overlooking the amazing English Harbour.
