Shubert Bungalow

Seal Harbor cottage

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Perfect!” The Shubert Bungalow was such a nice place to stay.It was so clean and there was everything that you neeeded in it.You could relax out on the deck or in the rocking chairs out front. One of the best things was that you could walk right to the carriage roads or walk to Jordan Park for lunch or dinner. It was the best place we ever stayed at.I would definitely go back!

Beautiful new house + classic cottage Seal Harbor

Seal Harbor house

6 bedrooms / 4 bathrooms / sleeps 12

“Serene and pleasant” This spacious house has ample room for a big family to have a wonderful time in Maine. The property lends itself to feeling like a peaceful retreat while being close enough to Bar Harbor and Northeast Harbor. You can even walk into Seal Harbor very easily. In fact, there are beautiful walks and hikes right nearby. The kitchen is a fun cooks kitchen with lots of seating for company, and the family room is good for socializing or for snuggling up with some rainy day reading. The beds are comfy and the layout is great for everyone having their own space. The bathrooms are nice and feel new. A great option for small children too, as there is a safe yard area and lots of room to run around!

Great rentals within 20 miles that match your search

Cliffside at Sandcliff by the Sea

Bar Harbor house

3 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Great Girl's Get Away” Bar Harbor, Maine is a couple of miles from Acadia National Park. The house with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms was ideal for 6 ladies. A cozy living room for playing games. The large kitchen accommodated 6 people making breakfast at the same time. The view of the ocean from the third floor balconey was assume. For 7 years, we have done girl's get away vacations and declared this was the best place yet! Hope to go back again!

“Beautiful Historic Home - Rare Family Togetherness Opportunity” There can be no better way to experience a new scenic location than with family! The opportunity to do that, enjoy, and be a part of morning and evening discussions is just not there with a large family in multiple hotel rooms. Compare to that a stay at Willowbrook, right across from scenic Somes Sound. You can watch from the porch as others take pictures of the view. The home is large and charming, has so much history, unique details and qualities that make exploration irresistible. Our daughter had tears in her eyes upon entering the kitchen due to similarities to my Mom's home. Discussions about the home itself were so frequent and made more interesting by the numerous on site publications and books regarding the area and its history. Most of our family of twelve were 18 or older; all enjoyed not only the glimpse of life in the past, but actually living in such a home made it natural to imagine and of course talk about earlier life. Be sure that Willowbrook was an upscale residence from early times and provides a flavor of such a life. In a time frame when many did not have electricity or indoor plumbing, residents here had indoor plumbing. The 1920s era showers had multiple shower heads, which even now are a rarity. The shower controls alone were very advanced for the time and rival or exceed the contemporary in the ability of infinite control of both volume and temperature. Just imagine when these were new and the leading edge of innovation. Be aware that operation of the showers is not at first intuitive, since these controls are early prototypes from which others evolved. Did I mention FOUR bathrooms? Having seven ladies in our group made this so so nice. It is important to note that there was never a shortage of hot water. So. The home itself is a worthwhile experience, but this home is on Mount Desert Island. It is just so trouble free to make excursions to the various Acadia National Park sites, places to enjoy lobster, outdoor activities, and the bustle of Bar Harbor, with possible intermissions to return "home" to Willowbrook. If you seek modern cookie cutter perfection, skip Willowbrook. Our vacation was much more fulfilling because of our stay here.

“Fabulous Property” This was one of our first stops on our first ever visit to New England from the UK and we wish we could have stayed longer. Fabulous spacious property with wonderful views and so exciting for our daughter to see deer in the woods at the back of the house. Very clean and excellent facilities throughout. Great location for easy access to acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, lots to see and do within easy reach. Bob and Marcia were lovely and supportive hosts and made us feel very welcome indeed. If we get the opportunity to return to New England this will be one of the first places we head for. Thank you.

“Great place for family trip for Acadia NP” Great location for a family vacation. Acadia NP Echo Lake, Bass Harbor Lighthouse, and hiking trails are very close. Long Pond Waterfront with Dock and Views of Acadia

Mount Desert house

“Tranquil oasis on Long Pond” This little gem is not to be missed. Set back only a short distance to Long Pond, the modern cabin gave us gorgeous lake views, great kayaking each morning and evening, privacy and many quiet moments of sipping a cocktail on the large deck. It is in a great location, a close drive to all the hiking and carriage trails in Acadia NP for the adventurous, yet also close to Bar Harbor for shopping and great food. The owners, Diana and Gary were very helpful with suggestions during our stay. We took them up on recommendations for take-out Lobsters from Trenton bridge, dinner and croquet at Claremont hotel in Southwest Harbor and quite a few of the less traveled hikes in Acadia. We had a great experience at Windiana and look forward to returning next year.

Lito Lodge - Oceanfront near Acadia

Lamoine house

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 7

“Very comfortable house at a great location” I have rented several houses near the water in Maine in the last 20 years and this was by the far the best. It was spacious enough for my family of four, and had all the amenities I would want (except maybe a cd player, but that's ok). We cooked most of our meals, and never once said, "I wish this house had a ---", so the kitchen was very well equipped, better than any we'd rented before. But what distinguishes this house was the location, about 1.5 miles across the water from Mount Desert Island (MDI). We had excellent views of the tallest mountains on MDI from the sun porch, as well as the Narrows that separates Lamoine from MDI. The house is right on the water, and we brought kayaks, which we left on the beach (although we moored them to the stairs because the tide almost reached the end of the beach). We kayaked every day and most days also drove to the Island. Because it is located between Ellsworth and MDI, it is easy to get to the Island. We're able to by fresh shell fish nearby from local fishermen. The house itself is very quiet, and although their are nearby neighbors, we never noticed them. The basement was comfortable, but it was a basement, meaning there were very few windows. Rather than sleep in the basement, one of our daughters slept (very comfortably) on the enclosed porch. Bring binocs! I wish we had.

Oceanfront Schoodic Peninsula Log Home - 3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths Air-Conditioned

Gouldsboro house

3 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“Great location to explore Downeast Maine” This home was perfect from the location to the views. We felt we were the only ones on the bay, but close enough to local restaurants and attractions. We were only two hours away from Eastport (Ray's Mustard Mill) and Lubec (gateway to Campobello Island) and one hour away from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Some of our group just stayed at the house all day to relax and take in the views. Just 15 minutes away you can also enjoy a quieter side of Acadia at the Schoodic peninsula. Since we were there during the full moon, we made many a late night run to Schoodic Point - gorgeous! The owner (Susan P.) was very responsive to my call the first day when I couldn't find the towels (they were hidden in plain sight). I hope in the future that information is given about recycling. There is a recycle bin, but we did not know when it should placed on the curb until it was too late.

Little Island House Upstairs Appartment

Bass Harbor house

“Best place ever” We were fortunate that someone had to cancel their reservation at the last minute as our schedule unexpectedly opened up. We spent the best week ever in the little seaside fishing village of Bass Harbor, rocked to sleep by the sound of the waves lapping on the shore and awakened by the gentle sound of the fishing boats hauling out to see at the crack of dawn, as the fog gently lifted on the harbor. We stayed in the downstairs unit of Little Island House. We barely ever saw the couple who was staying upstairs. Our host Charlene Strauss was wonderful, both discrete and accommodating and gracious. The house was immaculate. From the bedding and the thick towels to the well-equipped kitchen, the exquisite prints on the walls, the seaside wraparound porch with a direct view on the harbor, the available bbq and the beach chairs that Charlene graciously lent us, everything down to a T was spectacular in its own laid back way. Bass Harbor only gets traffic because it is the point of departure for the little ferry to Swan Island, but we neither saw nor heard any of it from the house. It is such a quiet retreat, far enough away from the crowds of Bar Harbor (30 minute car ride away) and acadia National Park, yet close enough to drive there if so inclined. There are 2 restaurants and 1 take-out place. We also discovered the Ravenswood boutique on McMullan ave, which is definitely worth a visit. The elderly owners, Joe and anne Paradise, who carve birds and sell treasures old and new, are delightful and the new carving of the Yellow Leg that we purchased there reminds me of our wonderful week in Bass Harbor. Crowd lovers please abstain! Thank you Charlene! We hope to come back soon.

“Comfortable, relaxing and even better than the internet pictures. Location to die for.” Hi Joy, We have now returned home and I wanted to thank you for letting us stay in your fantastic holiday home. The location is just perfect and I couldn't wait to wake in the morning to see the view from the bedroom window. The house itself is so well planned and appointed with everything to make a holiday trouble free and relaxing. Our family reunion was doubly memorable because of the amazing surroundings and property. Acadia is certainly a stunning destination and we enjoyed it during a quiet time which suited us perfectly. I really did not want to leave and would really have liked to extend our trip for a lot longer. Thank you. Kind regards Juliet

“Great Stay - Wonderful House” First time visitors to Acadia for most of our crew - 2 adults and 4 teenage boys - and we all agreed that there wasn't enough time to do everything we wanted to do on the island. The house was perfect for our crew and gave us enough space so the teenage boys could have their privacy in the loft or downstairs in the "man cave." The place was spotless when we arrived and had everything we needed for cooking, etc. The grill was perfect for cooking outside and the view from the deck while cooking was awesome during sunset. Brenda the owner of the house is great to work with and very responsive to inquiries.
