“Sweet mountain cabin in a nice quiet location.” We rented this home for one of our summer get aways with our blended crew/family. Everyone had a fantastic experience. Its location is just outside of town in a very nice and peaceful area called Glenshire. The owner is very nice and accommodating. I would recommend this home and would rent it again- maybe when we go up to board and ski in winter.

“Awesome Location” The place is well kept and has great furnishings. I'd recommend this to anyone who is looking to explore the Truckee/Tahoe area while escaping some of the traffic. While my visit took place over the summer, the location makes for a perfect ski trip. I imagine you could ski/board to the lifts on any given day. The price is also very affordable. I have stayed at several places around the lake, and would definitely stay there again soon.

“An amazing Vacation” This is a beautiful cabin very well layed out for 2 or 3 families to share. The downstairs is wonderful for children to enjoy while the adults are upstairs. It was very clean, well stocked with all that is needed to enjoy staying at home and cooking and the scenery was beautiful. The shuttle service to Northstar was wonderful. So easy, fast and convenient! It was a very comfortable and relaxing vacation.

“Wonderful accomodations” This new home in Northstar was a perfect getaway for our extended family. We especially enjoyed the private outdoor amenities...large hot tub, barbecue with plenty of outdoor seating, and a lawn for the kids to enjoy. Large dining room table accomodates lots of people. Renters have access to the rec center and all its amenities. Kitchen was nicely equipped. Home was well-kept. Everyone loved it and wants to do it again next year!

“Fabuuulous!” My family and I stay at this great 'house'to celebrate my husband's birthday. It could not have been a better place for all of us to do this. Everything in the house was there for us to partake - only thing missing was some good dish towels, but I was prepared for that (carried my own). Not much I can add to fabuuuloous!

About Truckee
Nestled within the Tahoe National Forest, Truckee is a lovely mountain town and a great home base for an outdoorsy vacation. A stop on the old railroad, Truckee was founded as a lumber town in the 19th century. While it still maintains a bit of its original character as a Western outpost, Truckee is now a well-known gateway to the Lake Tahoe region. The historic buildings in Truckee's downtown are filled with cafes, boutiques, and brewpubs. Truckee can be a great stopover on your way to Lake Tahoe, CA, as well as a destination in its own right.
In the summer months, Truckee is a big destination for white water adventures along the Truckee River. There are numerous tour operators in town that will organize a guided rafting tour down the rapids. Truckee is also an excellent jumping off point for exploring the surrounding Sierra Nevada Mountains. Just outside of town, the beautiful Donner Memorial State Park offers miles of scenic trails through clean alpine scenery. For boating, swimming, and water sports, Donner Lake offers a smaller and more low-key alternative to Lake Tahoe. West End Beach is Donner Lake's most popular hangout, with sandy shores, picnic areas, and swimming. For golfers, Truckee offers nine golf courses, as well as access to numerous additional courses in the Lake Tahoe area.
In the winter, Truckee is perfectly situated close to many major Tahoe ski resorts and some of the nicest alpine scenery in California. If you are interested in heading into the wilderness on a snowmobile or a pair of cross-country ski, Truckee's tour operators can set that up, too. Head home to Truckee after a day on the slopes to enjoy great food and a low-key atmosphere.
