Sweet mountain cabin in the woods between Bozeman and Livingston.
Built to reflect specific periods and methods of building history - an amazing finished product!
Great location halfway between the western town of Livingston and Bozeman - both great towns with lots of restaurants, galleries and shopping.
Four wheel drive vehicles are recommended especially in the Spring and Fall.
The home has one bedroom plus a pullout sofa in the lower level sitting area and two full baths.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION: This sweet cabin is located up in the mountains between Bozeman and Livingston in a very private wooded setting. The home is about three miles on a dirt road from the Interstate. The cabin is about 15 minutes from Livingston and about 20 minutes from Bozeman. The cabin is the result of a building project over the years, that modeled various periods of American building history. Stained glass windows, hand made open trusses, and an open indoor cooking fireplace (which is not for actual use) are some of the unique features of the cabin.
BEDROOMS AND BATHS: The bedroom is located upstairs in the home. The queen size bed is tucked into a cozy alcove. A deep jetted tub in the corner welcomes you after a day of hiking and exploring, and a private washcloset is on the second level as well. Around the corner from the bedroom is a small living area, set up with television with Satellite TV and a DVD player for some evening movie watching.
KITCHEN, LIVING AND DINING AREA: The kitchen has a huge old fashioned wood cookstove, as well as all the modern appliances. There is also a cooking fireplace in the adjoining sitting room, complete with cast iron pots and a brick oven built into the fireplace. This fireplace is purely decorative and has candles in it that can be lit, but no fires. A pullout sofa in the sitting room can accommodate an extra guest or two. A dining room is set up in the sunny room off the kitchen... or head out to the fabulous patio for some outdoor meals. The patio area features adirondack chairs, picnic table, sun umbrella, and an outdoor fireplace! The outdoor wood fireplace is great for an evening gathering, and also serves as the barbecue grill for outdoor meals. There is a small stereo upstairs as well as in the kitchen that plays CDs. There is a television with satellite, DVD and a large collection of movies for some evening entertainment.
SETTING, ACREAGE, VIEWS: Heartwood is on ten very private acres in the Gallatin Mountain range between Bozeman and Livingston. Easy access to town, yet incredible privacy and wildlife viewing right from your own back door!
ACTIVITIES NEARBY: Outdoor recreation in the immediate area includes hiking, fishing, rafting, mountain biking, horseback riding and relaxing. Yellowstone Park is just 1.5 hours from the cabin, and for an especially memorable experience in the park, book a specialized private tour with our sister company, Greater Yellowstone Guides. There is so much to do!
DISTANCE TO AIRPORT: The Bozeman airport is just 40 minutes away.
Additional amenities include: wood stove, secluded, under 2 hrs to yellowstone park, on 10 or more acres, less than 30 min to town, cd player, in green homes program, spotty cell service, washer & dryer, considered with approval & fee.TripAdvisor property ID 2436354...Read more

Heartwood is a little cabin on the top of a 8000 feet rocky mountain! It is hidden in the wood but you still can see the valley down with the Beartooth mountain on the background. On the morning you just hear the widlife and can have a wonderfull breakfast on the porch. We only stayed there 5 days and nights but we will have loved to stayed longer. Everything was very clean and provided. Mountain home rentals are well organized and you don't hear about them if you don't need them. Everything is wonderfully decorated in the cabin with a mix of rusticity and elegance! This was all tasteful! Great vacations

Beautiful area, serene solitude, incredible details...the cabin is amazing. There is endless hiking right out your backdoor, the drive to Yellowstone is gorgeous, and the cabin is just...stunning! So quaint and wonderful!

We tell our friends Heartwood was like a "Hansel and Gretal" cottage in the mountains. The folks at Montana Vacation Rentals were friendly and unabtrusive. The home was located 2.2 miles up a dirt road into the mountains -lots of privacy.(one needs to decide on solitude or convenience. We had excellent weather but road may get dicey when muddy) Home had all the amenities needed: well stocked kitchen, books,TV,etc. (We couldn't get the TV to work but I have trouble turning on my computer.)
Best: The layout of the house and reading on the deck.
Least: Having to leave! A bit of a hassle getting to town.

Charming cabin in the woods at the end of a fairly rutted gravel road. Lots of driving if you're staying in the Bozeman, Big Sky area, but this cabin has easy access to Bozeman, and Livingston and the Paradise Valley. Cozy and well appointed. Nice outdoor deck spaces. Wish we'd had more time to hang out in this space.

There is not enough adjectives to describe how beautiful Montana is and Heartwood cabin was amazing. So amazing my husband wants to buy it and move to Montana. We did not want to leave and was quit sad to have to go back to hot, sticky, flat Texas. We will definetely be back! Thanks so much for giving us the memories of a home away from home.

We were looking for a quiet place to stay in the mountains away from
our hectic lives in the city. We found it tucked away in the mountains
of Montana between Bozeman and Livingston. Heartwood quickly
became our home away from home. The cabin is the perfect place for
two. Heartwood is filled with period furniture and character. One can
only marvel at the work and craftsmanship of the antique architecture.
Along with its character the cabin provided all the amenities we
needed for a relaxing week of vacation. Our favorite spot was the
second floor bay window with a spectacular view. We also enjoyed the
nightly visits from a family of deer nearby. It was so peaceful we could
hear the wind blow through the trees. While we were able to
experience the beautiful atmosphere of the mountains we were only
minutes away from the friendly town of Bozeman. If you are looking
for a charming cabin for two we highly recommend Heartwood. We
are ready to go back.
