Description

Foinavon is a fully up-to-date, 2 bedroom garden apartment with it's own entrance and gardens, comprising the entire ground floor of a detached house, having a very large conservatory with built-in Spa, all wonderful views over a wetland nature reserve and beyond.

Fully equipped, including bath, face & spa towels and all bedding, kitchen and dining needs. All you need to bring is your food, clothes, beach towels and personal requisites.

Free, Fast, WiFi works throughout Foinavon. With double glazing and full, mains gas central heating, plus the huge conservatory for extra space to spread yourselves out, Foinavon is the ideal place, any season, any weather.

NO EXTRA CHARGES FOR ANYTHING. The price in the quote is the final cost. No more. We believe in giving you, our guests, the best holiday experience we can.

Originally built as a bungalow in the 1960's, Foinavon retains it's original floorplan and open feel, whilst now also benefiting from the huge, east-southeast facing, conservatory - which contains not only the large spa, but casual seating, as well as dining table and chairs - all looking out on to wonderful country views, and not a building in sight, within ¾ of a mile.

Your own parking space at the front of the property eases your arrival. Down the easy going front steps to your own private front door, the steeply banked front garden screens the road, giving you a sense of the privacy that you can expect at Foinavon.

Enter through the secure front porch, to the hallway, front facing bedrooms either side, Shelves in the corner hold a good selection of books and games, as well as guide books, and other local info.

One bedroom has a king-size divan bed, while the other, equally large, room has a matching pair of 3' single divans. (we offer divans, for the comfort of our taller guests).

Each room also has a new double wardrobe, a dressing top, chest of drawers, bedside chests with lights, and good mirrors. Also fitted carpet for your comfort. Beds are made up ready for you with seasonal duvets; (alternative weight one in the wardrobe)as well as mattress toppers, so you can set the beds to suit yourself. (or ask us to change them for you). Each bedroom has vertical blinds at the large windows, for your privacy, as well as thick curtains, for darkness and a good night's sleep.

To the rear, on your left is the cosy sittingroom, with two large, comfy settees facing the wonderful open easterly view through the patio door, which nearly fills the far wall. This opens to your private balcony, where there's room for all four guests to sit at the table. This can be a good spot for a sunny breakfast; later, a shady retreat. Being east facing, with nothing but sea beyond the hill you're looking on to, after sundown, there are some wonderful dark skies. Watch the stars rising over the horizon.

Wall mounted swivel Sony 32" TV offers all Freesat channels, Also, a DAB bluetooth radio for your own music player and a selection of spare cables - HDMI USB for your own box, stick etc.

High Speed Fibre Broadband feeds the fast, unlimited, free WiFi, throughout the home.

A fully tiled Bathroom with a view! A showerbath with glass screen and powerful twin-head shower, hot in less than four seconds! Vanity basin with large, well-lit mirror, hidden-cistern toilet and plenty of shelves.

Kitchen, this is a proper, full domestic kitchen, bright and modern, fully fitted high gloss units, with Bosch dishwasher, and, as you'd expect, the microwave (that nobody on holiday can live without). Also stainless hob, extractor hood and fan oven, fullsize fridgefreezer and a kitchen sink with a view, of course! Good selection of decent crockery, glasses etc.(plus nice quality unbreakable ones for use in by the spa). Plenty of storage, too.

There's a 'Bistro' table & chairs here as well. Perfect place for breakfast for two, or kid's activities while you're cooking, (or plating up the takeaway delivery).

Through to the utility room/porch with a Bosch washing machine - we'll tumble-dry free, if you ask. Drying rack/airer, Iron and board are here, with vacuum cleaner etc.

Through the back door, down a few steps and you're in the huge conservatory with the large, in-ground Spa - hot and waiting for you. Again, that view! This space is nearly 300sq ft, and easily accommodates not only comfy casual seats for all your party, but a full-sized dining set and space for games! You're totally invisible here, perfect privacy!

The spa is fully mosaic tiled, designed as eight seats, so all of you have plenty of space. Heated overnight on low-rate electric, with an insulated floating cover for heat-saving, it's always ready for you, just wait till you turn on the bubbles!

You walk straight from the conservatory, through the decked pergola, into your private rear garden, which is laid to lawn, you're invisible to any neighbours for half of the space. We cannot even see you from our own accommodation above! Even the little summerhouse is yours.

Getting around

Foinavon is well positioned for touring the Island, sitting by the main tourist corridor from Ryde to the resort towns of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor and close to an easy, quiet, scenic road to both Newport at the centre, and to the north and west of the Island. Good bus routes pass by as well, allowing easy travel. (buy a 'package' ticket to save money). There are many footpaths and bridlepaths very close by, giving access to some glorious countryside and beaches. We have written up some touring and sightseeing routes for you, which take you on scenic, yet convenient circular routes.

Interaction with guest

We do like to welcome you personally, in order to show you around and to outline some of the workings. We have an absolute mine of local information, on places to visit or eat, how to get there and what you may see on the way. Just ask us at any time. We are very approachable and we actively want to help you get the best from your break. However, we won't be knocking on your door, nor would we be entering while you're not there. We'll take in your supermarket delivery on arrival day, just tell us the expected time. We have plenty of spare and extra equipment etc, should you need to borrow. We've also written up a number of driving trips around the Island, helping you to find the easiest and most scenic routes. Simply ask us for anything.

House rules

Foinavon can be very suited to children, provided they are adequately supervised.
As the property is built on a sloping site, there are steps between the various changes in levels. Toddlers and small children could have issues with this.
Parents also need to consider the child's access to the in-ground spa. (shown clearly in the photos).
For the less mobile, Foinavon may suit and we will happily supply full details of accessibility. Unfortunately, Foinavon really is inaccessible to wheelchairs.

“A Little Treat For Our 6 Yr Old Grandaughter, Her First Trip To The Island.”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2021

Thank you, for the use of your lovely apartment. It really felt like a home from home. We especially loved the hot tub after a day of adventures. It was all very well equipped and we wanted for nothing. Our 6 year old Grandaughter loved the hot tub and was in it every day, She had a fantastic time on the Island and now keeps asking us to take her back next year for a family holiday as she loves family time together, hopefully she'll have as fond memories as I did as a youngster. We invited our Son down for a few days with his partner and her 2 young boys, They all enjoyed the stay on the Island and are now looking to book a holiday for themselves for next year. The accommodation is lovely and a great base from which to see all the beauty the IOW has to offer. Everything you could need for a home away from home. We will be booking again her another stay next year. Had a lovely time.

“A relaxing week”

Reviewed 3 Nov 2019

This is one of the nicest properties I have stayed in. Everything is provided and Rob and Sue kindly show you around when you arrive. The views from the balcony off the lounge and from all the back of the house are beautiful, the hot tub is a bonus we used it every day! It’s only 1.5 mile into Sandown so perfectly located for exploring the IOW. We will be back!

“Wonderful experience”

Reviewed 5 Sep 2019

We booked to stay at foinavon for our holiday this year. With the lead upto and during the stay Rob and Sue were very helpful and professional. We mentioned that we had some ideas of places we wanted to see one of which was Wight cliff bay. The next day we was so grateful that Rob had taken time to write down instructions on how to get there. He had even added a beutiful scenic route which looked over the whole of sandown aswel as Wight cliff bay. This was an experience that was breath taking, so again thankyou! We felt that Rob and so had really given alot of thought as to what makes the perfect holiday home. On arrival it was a lovely to see that Rob and Sue had put our grocery order away for us. As I'm sure you can understand its a great relief after driving from 5 hours from Derby. We were shown around the home and then left alone to enjoy our stay. The apartment has everything you could possibly need including a hot tub!!! We all enjoyed this especially the kids. The sun rises over clover down from the balcony, were magnificent to watch in the morning. My only constructive criticism would be the bed for me was quite hard but given the rest of the home I can look past that. This part of the island is so beautiful and there is so much see in brading and the surrounding areas my only regret is we didnt get to see everything we wanted, but that's what a follow visit is for We had a truly wonderful holiday that we will never forget and would absolutely choose foinavon to book again. Thankyou so much. Hope to see you again soon. X

Response from the owner We're so glad you liked it all. We really want all of our guests to enjoy everything our beautiful Island, so we produce our own guides, to help you appreciate the place as much as possible. re the beds, our intention has always been to give our guests the best choice for sleeping - you found the optional mattress toppers - but we are now experimenting in the bed shops, to see what else we can offer. We'd be very pleased to welcome you back to Foinavon.
