Additional Location Information

The Cottage is located in a small hamlet 2 kms from the village of Plesidy and 8 kms from the bigger village of Bourbriac. It is 20 mins. from the medeival town of Guingamp and the main N12 motorway. Please take care whilst driving through this quaint hamlet as there are young children who live and play there. The North Brittany coast is only 45 minutes drive away and the fashionable seaside resort of Binic is 30 miles and can be reached within 30 - 40 minutes on the motorway

In Plesidy you will find a boulangerie and a local "spar" type shop called Votre Marche. There is also a great little restaurant that serves excellant 3 course lunches with wine for around €10 ( only open at lunchtime though ).It's a pleasant walk from the cottage to this restaurant and this usually takes approx. 45 mins walk each way

Bourbriac has a pharmacist as well as the usual boulangeries, charcuteries, banks, post office and small supermarket, the majority of these being situated in the main square in front of the very grand and beautiful medieval church, whose spire can be seen from afar and which contains in the crypt the relics of St. Briac.

The nearest large town is the regional capital of Guingamp with its medieval centre as well as a fine choice of hypermarkets. It also has some very good restaurants, including a traditional Breton Creperie.

There are Breton and international festivals all year round in Bourbriac, Guingamp, Lannion and Perros and in many small villages where you can see national and local costumes, join in with hypnotic Breton Dancing and above all hear the fabulous bombard trumpets and Breton bagpipes.

A short hassle free drive of around 30 to 45 mins gets you to many delightful sandy beaches, seaside resorts and ports such as Plouha, St. Quay Portrieux and the picturesque Paimpol. Not to be missed is the beautiful Pink Granite Coast between Perros Guirec and Trebeurden including the quite incredible geology at nearby Ploumanach!

Bourbriac has a freshwater lake and beach which permits paddling & swimming at one end and fishing (without permit) at the other.

The surrounding countryside is ideal for walking or cycling (or both!). Also there are waterfalls, gorges and freshwater lakes within easy reach. The Valley of the lovely river Leguer is close by. The single line railway to the coast , including the steam service between Pontrieux and Paimpol, can be boarded at Pont Melvez. There is horse riding nearby and an indoor pool at Guingamp, also a recently refurbished outdoor pool at St. Nicholas du Pelem.
