Located in Down East Maine, the local farmer's make finding organic food so easy. The market on Tuesdays in Brooksville has fresh vegetables, meats, cheeses, and breads. Buck's Market and Restaurant are high quality supplies and dinner fair. Lobsters are available locally at numerous locations and the local communities also have farmer's markets throughout the week.
Blue Hill, the home of Kneisel Hall and shops, galleries, the fair and many ongoing seasonal events is always a great destination. Stonington has the Opera, many restaurants and galleries. Shops and sites there are surrounded by a working harbor. Deer Isle has Haystack , and Brooklyn has the Wooden Boat campus. Our peninsula has many artists, craftsmen and farmers.
Our beaches are full of sand and rocks, shells and star fish. Easily accessible for canoeing or kayaking, rental boats are available near by. In Brooksville, the Nearing Center teaches principles of the Nearings and Barbara Damrosch and Elliot Coleman grow, write and teach about gardening. Holbrook Preserve is a great walking trail and some like to climb Blue Hill or venture to Acadia, a little over an hour away to enjoy the beauty or a popover! Ellsworth has many cultural activities also.
