Additional Location Information

The cottage is by the sea yet minutes from all amenities. The front garden overlooks the river and the sea and there are also seats and picnic tables nearby-visitors have been known to take their breakfast overlooking the river and sea, watching birds, seals and boats. Only small lobster boats or anglers use the wee harbour and again visitors have managed to get lobsters and crabs fresh before now. The cottage is on the Heritage Trail round Brora and there are booklets in the cottage describing this. Shops, restaurants and bars are all within walking distance. Brora itself has a wee harbour, Ice House, football ground, tennis court and bowling green, world famous 18 hole golf course, miles of sandy beaches, swim lunches at the Marine Hotel, a library, Heritage Centre,a whisky distillery to visit and so much more.
All along the coast are other small towns and villages offering slightly different activities. Golspie has a wonderful mountain biking course and Dunrobin Castle and golf and a swimming pool, Helmsdale the Timespan Museum, Dornoch a cathedral and championship golf course,......the rest to explore. There are also lovely walks. Walk or drive to Loch Brora to see the deer in the evening, fish on the river or loch, wander the Loth Hills or simply follow the Coastal Path to Golspie passing the waterfall, Broch and Dunrobin Castle.
Other places are easy to reach from Brora. It is on the bus and train routes. Day trips can be arranged from Brora Post Office to Orkney or trains will stop at Dunrobin Castle on request so it is possible to see the area without a car. There are buses to Inverness and Wick. By car the north coast and the west coast are easily accessible as is the Black Isle and Dornoch area. There is just so much, and wonderful sunrises and sunsets.
