Additional Location Information

The traditional center of Budapest was an inner ring road (korut) arcing from the Szabadsag Bridge and the Central Market Hall at the south end of the Danube's path through the city, northward past the National Museum, Erzsebet ter and the starting point of Andrassy ut, and then back towards the river at the Chain Bridge. The centerpoint of this small intensely historic city center is the old Franciscan Church at Ferenciek tere. Apartment Pierre is one block away, midway between Deak ter (where all three Metro lines intersect) and Vorosmarty ter (where the pedestrian street Vaci utca begins. Szervita ter is a small triangular 'square' on the site of one of the city's oldest churches. Our building, #5, is a landmark precursor of the Bauhaus movement, the first mixed use (residential/office) building in Europe, designed by the architect Bela Lajta in 1911. On the ground floor there's an historic music shop (Rozsavolgyi) that sells tickets to all cultural events.
