Villa Serena

One of the most idyllic locations in the Mediterranean is Prince Belmonte’s private and modern Villa Serena, in a hidden part of the pine parklands. A 4 km stretch of coastline ensures that the villa offers total privacy and is reached only through the main entrance to the estate.

Villa Serena can accommodate up to 14 guests in 7 double bedrooms. The property has been restored to a high standard, combining the best of Italian tradition with modern comforts. Less than 100 m from the villa is a delightful seawater pool in which guests can swim safely and privately while sheltered from the sea breezes by a romantic Roman ruin.

Additional Location Information

South of the small fishing harbour of San Marco and close to the Licosa point (named after the siren Leucosia) lies the estate of the Prince of Belmont along with the ancient ruins of a Roman fort, a seaside castello and family chapel, and the uniquely private Villa Serena.
The villa is delightfully isolated and, at the same time, a short drive from the southern Italian fishing village of Santa Maria di Castellabate where the quayside and heart of Santa Maria offer local shopping or the chance to visit the weekly, colourful open-air market.
At the southerly point of the Amalfi Coast, 8 km south of the villa, lies the exclusive private reserve of Licosa, within the Cilento National Park. Private boat trips and picnic lunches can be arranged to Licosa, an extraordinary 6 km stretch of private coastline. It has crystal clear water ideal for snorkelling. The pine woodland bordering the sea is delightful for a pleasant stroll or jog and a superb stretch for cycling.
Available nearby:- Scuba diving, sailing and windsurfing- Trekking- Tennis courts- Horse riding
Several pretty, small villages and Palazzo Belmonte are within easy reach: Castellabate is just 6 km away; Salerno is 80 km away; and Naples is 130 km to the north.
From Castellabate, guests can enjoy numerous half and full day trips. The magnificent Doric Temples of Paestum are just 30 minutes away, and the archaeological sites of Pompeii, Herculaneum and Oplontis are within easy reach by car. The villa can arrange a chauffeur if required.
The legendary Amalfi Coast, with towns such as Vietri sul Mare, is famous for its ceramics. Ravello, with its beautiful Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone, and the delightful Positano provide an enjoyable day trip. So does the magnificent 14th century Charter House of Padula (a monastery) which lies inland. The island of Capri, as well as Positano and Amalfi, can be reached by hydrofoil, private boat or helicopter.
A visit to Naples should not be missed because of its rich history, many churches, monuments, museums and the renowned Capodimonte Royal Palace and museum. Closest of all, the medieval hilltop village of Castellabate, is a delight to explore.
Helicopter trips can be arranged so guests can enjoy the most spectacular views of the coast and places of interest further away.
