Additional Location Information

Florence is Europe's greatest artistic city, a focal point for the Renaissance, one of history's most dramatic periods of creative endeavour, and home to magnificent paintings, sculptures and architecture spanning almost 1,000 years. Florence is to be seen indoors but there is so much packed into the area that you need to go slowly.

Don't Miss:
Piazza del Duomo which is home to the Duomo (Florence's majestic and multicoloured cathedral of 1296), the Baptistry (Florence's oldest surviving building open from midday except Sunday ) and the Campanile, the cathedral's bell tower (85 metres - 414 steps) for wonderful views of the city;

The Uffizi not only houses the greatest collection of Italian Renaissance art, but also a host of outstanding paintings from other periods and other European countries; the sculptures in the Bargello merit a visit even more than the Accademia where Michelangelo's famous David is kept. For the above mentioned museums and galleries please contact the Citalia Office for reservations.

Palazzo Pitti, once home to the prestigious Medici Family is an ideal opportunity to see some of the most richly decorated rooms which hold countless treasures. The Gallery Palatina containing hundreds of priceless paintings from the Medici collection, making this Florence's second-ranking art gallery after the Uffizi.
